Fact: Only 6% of the people in the South could afford to own slaves. So just find out who's families owned the slaves back then, and then force them to pay out all the welfare, oops I meant reperations, right? Sounds good.

I was thinking about this yesterday when I saw the Catholic minister speaking at Obama's church talking about reparations. Reparations will never work in my opinion and it would only work toward more racial divide in America.

America was founded by rich white men, it was white mans country and the Kings of different Western European nations were involved in granting lands and wealth, even more wealth to the chosen powerful men that even included the founders. Even after the revolution with England the land grants from the King remained and each existing state considered everything to the west of its western frontier their property to the pacific ocean.

Where would reparations start considering all slaves and up to 70% of white people were in slave category? Take a look at the US constitution as it speaks to slaves and indentured servants almost equally. Refer to this link Indentured Servitude in Colonial America and look at numerous others by Google the words .. indentured servant .. Then if we are going to start to be fair then we need to give back all the land to the remaining American Indians because it was all stolen from them. Guess we would owe payments for usage since we have taken it away also. To be short there is no way to make it right with former slaves, indentured servants or American Indians without giving up everything American government stands. American government was established to represent the citizens of America, at that time and those born or naturalized following the establishment. If it represents all victims of fairness then the government falls because it was created on the base of the unfairness of those who established the government in the first place. We can't blame the King(s) nor the slave/servant slave holders for our current position no more than the American Indians can demand all the land back.

I do find it interesting that reparations don't usually mention Natives.

To mention natives for reparations cancels out their and your rights. If the world court took the case they would have to find the nation guilty under the nations laws and laws of the UN. Then all nations would be in violation resulting in all nations being illegal which would make the court without standing in the world. It would be a death wish.
