I am not sure whether the AIDS epidemic as being a "Godsend" is racist or not...I already expressed my belief that it's not a Godsend it's a problem that should be mitigated because any ailments to the black community inevitably will return to the white community through violence or attempt at wealth redistribution (rather than free market).

But the reason I am not even sure you could call that particular instance racist is simply it is too passive. That is like saying because someone dies of old age you killed them by outlasting them...

It's hard NOT to see the racism in Olifant's posts whether you're liberal or conservative.

I find it hard to see this "racism" when there's so many times I clearly share my observation that anyone can do anything it's not about that, and I've repeatedly stated that it's about the fact that blacks as a group are in need of solutions starting with manageable population.

The sad truth is that Olifant is right. Overpopulation is a major problem in South Africa. Due to African custom and mentality it is the norm to have many children to offset high child mortality rates and a very low life expectancy. This was fine up untill white people dragged them out of the stone age. No the problem is that child mortality and life expectancy in general has dramatically improven and also the prosperity of South Africa and chaos in nabouring states cause the flooding of the country with illigal immigrants, which was happening even during apartheid and is now estimated to constitute 25% of the poppulation. This has lead to an population boom of unprecedented proportions and the resources and infrastructure of the country canot cope. Couple this with the corruption and incompetence in goverment, the country faces not only a decline in well being for the population at a whole but also the population of the entire Southern African region. Olifants suggestion that only blacks get sterilized is most likely to do with the fact that other cultures in South Africa have a family with 2.3 children while Black figures are just below 6. I do not think anybody can forcibily sterilize anyone. Is there anybody out there so quick to critisize olifant able to come up with an alternative? I am South African as well and just as olifant I am saddened by the backwards evolution and general deterioration of the country, desperation often turns to racism but such is Africa.
P.S. Saw alot of people going on about Afrikaaners and apartheid. Actually apartheid was implemented while South Africa was still under the Crown i.e. English. The Afrikaans experienced there own near genocide in Brittish concentration camps and there were also alot of tribal fighting untill very recently and it seems like it might flare up soon again. So rasicm is not a uniquely Afrikaans invention it is just human nature and something everybody can only sort out for themselves.

I disagree with your idea of justifying your humanity - the idea of it - in and of itself. We all have different viewpoints on what is humane; and the number of Black Africans has nothing to do with it.
As far as that number goes- while approximately correct; there are many times that number in China. China numerically rules this planet now with India coming up fast behind them.Sorry, but disease and war are a plague of all mankind- no matter where we reside.
I believe it is the duty of all people-whatever and wherever- to address these issues and to offer knowledge to each other to try and control them.
Your last statement attaches Black Africans with the possibility or idea that we will all be poor.We don't have that many African-Americans in this country now; is the financial situation of the United States the fault of Africa as a whole, or individually?
How many people died in World Wars I and II? Was any of this the fault of Black Africans?
I think you may have meant that to take that many immigrants in will depress one's financial situation. On that you may be correct. But that is why I believe in our duty as human beings as stated earlier. I will not try to blame any specific people for any or all problems of mankind- I just think it is up to all mankind to work to solve these issues.

I, as an African American, do not take personal offense. But others will see racism in your posts because you are attaching the problems of all mankind to blacks. That will always be understood as a racist comment.
While maybe not meant that way, unfortunately, it comes across as such.

The only thing that will help the problems you describe Oli is education and birth control.

Sterilization, especially forced, will only make the wound deeper.

I don't think Oli is capable of the level of rational thought required to reach such a conclusion...
