| Does Race Matter? Some talk has been given to Obama being the first black candidate who actually has a chance to win. Surprisingly, it has not been a major subject, which I see as being a positive sign. So I ask this... Does race matter? Fight the good fight, and die with the enemy's heart in your hand. http://www.armysailor.com http://www.tadpolenet.com/techblog ------------------------------------ Check out my latest addition to the blogosphere Quixotic Journey | |||||||||||||||||||||

| I think it does make a difference ... I think that Obama is not getting the reaction other black men might get in his position because he's such a LIGHT black man. If Obama were a dark skinned black man, I don't think the reception would be the same. I don't think it's right - but I do think it's there. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Conservatism: Self-centered mean-spiritedness fueled by ignorance and misguided self-importance. | If I know America correctly nobody is saying anything NOW but then the polls will show something completely different. In this case I really hope I am wrong! I think he is a smart man and would make a great president. He has been the only one to show support for Instant Runoff Voting I believe! --- help me Instant Runoff Voting, you're my only hope --- There is little doubt that the world in general is more liberal than it was 50 years ago and beyond. Conservatives are simply roadblocks on the path to an ever more progressive and liberal world. What a sad existence. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| I do not believe how dark Obama is is ,or should be an issue. Tristan's response shows that there is still part of America's populace that fears the Black. Being Black myself, I personally am happy that Obama has taken the oppotunity to even run. Having said that, Obama's recent statement that he, if elected, would pull American troops from Iraq, and possibly send them into Pakistan really was not smart. But that was not "Black" talking, that was "inexperience" and lack of knowledge of the politics in the Middle East. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| a) I agree - there is a part of America's populace that fears black men. b) I do believe that dark vs. light-skinned black skin makes a difference to many (LOL - I'm not one of them) c) I don't think anybody thought his comment about invading Pakistan had to do with his being black. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Conservatism: Self-centered mean-spiritedness fueled by ignorance and misguided self-importance. | To me?- no. To the racist element that will always exist in this society?- Yes. Light-skinned Blacks vs dark-skinned Blacks? Hmm, that's a new take on the subject... Never really paid much attention to that one... Everything I say is a lie, and that is the truth. | |||||||||||||||||||||

but your comment is right on the money, and I am proud that Obama is high on the polls. I hear negative things everyday concerning Obama becoming a President or a Vice Pres, and the comments is from people like Tristan. I would trust Obama before I trust Jesse Jackson, and as a true fact Senator Obama is the first Black brother who is in the high ranks of politicians. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
