| Yes to both you two, Fx and Knot... I am saddened that the media can even take what was a "non-story" within their own measures and then plaster it in the national eye and call it racial discrimination that it was not at the first given attention. Media has worked to keep the thoughts that racism is still an issue, real or in some cases imagined. And I am NOT saying that it is not still an issue, but sometimes seeing it where there are other prejudices at work is unfair to the progress being made too. OhDear | |||||||||||||||||||||

Living in Illinois myself (although not in the same town as Peterson), I have definitely heard of this case. I can tell you that it is not being portrayed as being any racial issue. However, the media is really playing the fact that the accused police officer, Peterson, also had his second wife die of strange circumstances.

Is punishment in order? Without a doubt. But before this can be done, let us look back at the Don Imus situation one more time. In that case, (as I originally predicted in another thread when the story first broke) it actually turned out that his rado employers contracted him to say something as outlandish as what he did. I suspected something like this because with all the platitudes and apologies that followed, NONE came from the management of the media outlets- in short, it was a ratings ploy. Now in this case, I would suggest that the FCC look into filing felony charges against this young lady and the Golf Channel for that statement over television airwaves. I'd have to check a bit as to what the law states -and how it would be termed to incite assault using the media. I'm sure lawyers will have one heck of a time with this mess. But this stands a chance of having happened for much the same reason- ratings. The conumdrum we face is:whom do we blame? The girl who made the idiotic statement; or the employers who may have paid or had her under contract to do so? This is why I suggest the pusuit of felony charges. I'm sure this silly child will spill the beans and answer the real questions one second after the handcuffs click shut. Like Don Imus, let us see first what the Golf Channel reacts to this. If they fire her, and terminate any employment contract she was under, and issue a public statement avowing any knowledge of this, it may be that they were not aware of this beforehand. That was the key to the Imus mess. As it will be here also. By the way Spin Doctor, where have you been lately? Currently in another thread called "What is a Jew"? you will find racism and hatred in it's most vile form- and that is people trying to explain their hatred. Please take a few spare minutes and visit this thread. I'll look more into your post here. I'll be back later. One other thing... did this actually happen? I find it hard to believe that I have not heard a thing about this incident over my local area's news/ channels. As I live near one of the largest media outlets on planet Earth (the Chicagoland area), we must first make sure that this is not some ratings hoax. I noticed that the author of your article does say that he has not seen the clip nor heard the statement himself. But he says that "This much is true.." | Okay, I just heard something about this incident. So, I guess my last question is now answered. Of course, Big Al has stuck his nose in before we have our questions answered. I really wish that he would learn something of the value of having all of his facts straight before he jumps into such a situation.

| I have read a few stories on this....There are a few differences between this and Imus's thing. Tiger Woods is a celebrity. So he's as open for this kind of stupidity as the millions of "Paris Hilton is a slut" jabs. He's fair game. No felony charges will come of this. She should be fired for being stupid but again, considering the context, you have to give her the benefit of the doubt from a "racial" standpoint. She said "that today's young players should "lynch Tiger Woods in a back alley." Stupid comment? Yes. Racist though? I'm not so sure about that. I'd still have to hear the rest of what was being talked about before she said that. If they were talking about Tiger's domination of Golf for the last few years and predicting the future of golf will be influenced greatly by Tiger's presence, that comment, while still wrong, is put more into context. She should be disciplined, but I don't think she is a "racist" though. | |||||||||||||||||||||

Again, just like with Imus; this could also be a ratings ploy. The Golf Channel may be trying for audience share to make a bid for coverage of an upcoming Masters. We have seen that media will stoop to anything (usually a race-oriented choreographed event) to achieve such audience. Along with Imus; do you recall a couple of years ago when ESPN decided to bring aboard Rush Limbaugh;who immediately starts taking potshots at Donovan McNabb? Another example. What we must realize as Blacks; is that not every White person who makes an idiotic statement is a racist. Many, (especially in the media who perpetuate this idocy) simply are just that-idiotic for allowing themselves to be used as a patsy by their employer. Outside the media, well; I think I've made my views on racism known here. I do not look at people by any such criteria as skin color, nationality, religion, nor any other such qualifications other than humanity. As soon as we can get everyone aboard this train of thought; the sooner we can end such foolish thoughts and hopefully the end of what we call racism will follow- like sun breaking out after a long rainstorm.

| I don't hide from racism...But I don't pull up rocks looking for it either. I find much more to be concerned about when I ride through the "hood" than worrying about some ahole taking this chick seriously. Before Sharpton should get p'd about one comment about one stupid comment about one celebrity, he needs to do something REAL and help the race. Because honestly, even if this chick gets fired, it won't mean squat. Fewer people watched her on the Golf Channel than watched Imus. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| I just read the article and veiwed the video. I don't see racism here. Certainly if they were trying to convey a 'message' all three would have been painted black instead of just one? People, get over yourselves! | |||||||||||||||||||||
