Ah, sorry OD...But no she couldn't. There's no recognized 'racism' for those of non-minority groups.

That would mean petitioning for laws to include non-minority groups...Which would be laughed out of the states that try to impliment them. That doesn't include the rukus that would be raised, by minority groups saying that it either doesn't exsist, or isn't as bad as those asking for it claim the situation is.

Heck, go back a few months ago, when 'reverse racism' was brought up...Even here, many were upset that there was a group being advertised that was trying to address racism against non-minority groups.

A number of people thought that having a group asking for equal treatment for caucasians was racist in itself and insulting to minorities?

Recognized by whom?

Any honest thinking person recognizes that a person of any race can be a racist. So far as I have ever seen, the definitions of racism and racist do not include any reference to minority groups.

rac·ism (rā'sĭz'əm) n.
1. The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others.
2. Discrimination or prejudice based on race.

I have been a victim of racism more than once in my life. I have been spit on, threatened and even discriminated against at work because of being white. I had a black boss who based her employee evaluations on how fair-skinned the employee was. Since I am a pink skinned, blue-eyed, blond, I probably would have eventually been fired if I had not managed to arrange a transfer first.

But none of this makes me go around looking for racism from every black person I meet. Because I am not a racist, I do not stereotype people according to the worst of their race that I have ever encountered or heard about.

The problem with the blacks and the hanging Halloween decorations is that they are seeing racism where it probably does not exist. If any of the dummies had been styled to look like a stereotypical black person then they would have a point. According to everything I have seen on this incident and some others like it, this has not been the case.

If you want to see a true racist, Louis Farrakhan comes to mind. He said some pretty nasty stuff the other day.

I agree with you CF, don't get me wrong please.

But like with hate related laws...Although the laws are supposed to protect everyone, they're not being implimented as such. So to counter that, the laws have to be redone specifying specific groups that are/were being unprotected sufficiantly.

Anti-race laws are supposed to protect all individuals from being hurt or ill-treated because of their race. Technically, that law is supposed to be blind to skin color/race and protect everyone in our nation...BUT, it's not. It's only protecting groups deemed 'minority' groups to the expense of all our citizens.

Law enforcement itself, is the problem. Because when a situation is race-related, they turn a blind eye if the person being treated in a racist manner, isn't from a minority group. Because their interpretation of race-related enforcement is that those laws only apply to minority groups.

And anyone asking for a change in those laws, to include a wider range of classifying 'racism'...pretty much get the same treatment as those asking for hate-crime legislation to specify groups of individuals under those laws that aren't getting the proper protection those laws are supposed to be providing to them.

CF, you took the words in my heart and posted them here.

It's so sad, that the few haters make it so hard for the majority.

Can you imagine that if colored people sees these decorations, they claim racism. They would have Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson raising big issues over this one in no time.

But if a colored family posts the decorations, then it is okay, and no one is able to claim racism. I would bet that a bunch of white people in a neighborhood might not understand what it means.

I have been a victim of discrimination, too, only because of my hearing disability.

But that doesn't fall under racism...That falls under disability acts. And even then, if your disability isn't 'assumed' to fall under that law, you could be denied legal protection by those interpreting to only mean it's applied to other disabilities, not your own.

Racism falls under discrimination laws as well...The problem is, they don't clarify all races are to be protected and people interpret it to mean protection of minority groups.

And unless it spelled out word for word, to specifically include each individual race to be protected by that law, it won't succeed in equally protecting all races as it was intended to or should protect alongside those that are being protected.

So far, a number of the laws designed to protect citizens, are being viewed as a 'pick and choose who is protected' mind set. Sad, but true.
