Good family friends used to live in Southern California in one of the Watts neighborhoods Kitty. One day mom pulled up in her convertable across the street from their house. Hoots, whistles. propositions and hollers proceeded from around the neighborhood until one of the gentlemen hollered out as she walked towards the friends house, "Shush all be nice. She belongs to Mr. Bill."

I'm going to agree with you, FX. We have yet another uneducated Black man trying to represent the rest of us- but actually embarassing us.
SpnDoctr, are you related to P.P.? What the real crime being comimited here is that some people are not realizing that it is actually how they choose to interpret this scene that makes it worse than it actually is.And since it can cause controversy, the media will eat this up.
The language used by this man was more than embarassing; it was disgusting. Even though, it still shows how some Blacks are still of the "The White man is to blame", and "The White man is keeping me (us) down" mentality. They have yet to learn that while the history of Black life in America has not been something to be proud of; times have changed. Blacks have a plethora of opportunities that never could have been possible in years past. There are still many (too many, in my opinion) of us who don't realize that their acceptance of that thought process from years gone by is what is keeping them down. We don't have to live in ghettos and housing projects. We don't have to be pimps, drug dealers, or prostitutes. We don't need to steal or rob another for money or material goods. We can even do commercials on television for something other than fried chicken, Pine-Sol, or Milk of Magnesium.
There is not a day that goes by that I am not ever so thankful that I was born to parents who taught me that there is nothing we cannot have or achieve. There is nothing wrong with wanting the finer things in life (materially, financially, or ideally. One only need to want it enough. By wanting; that will mean making the effort necessary to achieve these goals and not waiting or hoping that others will give it to you- and complaining when it isn't. Anything else is simply idle wishing.

Mentors and parents can make a hugh diference how anyone percieves their own value and ability to make changes in their future.

You are very correct, Rod. In many of my posts, I refer to values and lessons taught me by my parents; many by my father. In that alone, I realize that I had an advantage that many Blacks didn't (and still don't)- I grew up in a two parent (original parents) household. The only time my father was away from us was when he served two tours in Vietnam.

ok, the uneducated part i take offense to. i have 2 degrees and 5 seperate certifications. and again, i wont apologize for the language. it was the heat of the moment, i said it and i will live with it.
as for the rest of the post. since you took the time to see my video that was linked, why didnt you read the rest of my post after that. like the one explaining that i agreed with the fact that the media and the naacp blew this up due to jena and other events...i wont link it, you go find it.
while your searching, look for another story in the same town where a couple hung a witch from a tree in their front yard and are refusing to take it down. ive seen this display, there is also a rebel flag hanging from the house in the back. i know witches were hung, so were indians, so were white people...i dont need to know the history of hangings. im speaking from my perspective, as will you when you see it, read it, and interpret it.
im offended that black men arent even a little disturbed by the mere thought of hangings. im only 35, i didnt live through that era, ive only experienced the backlash. but the elderly people that were at the townhall meeting, went through some of this, they marched with dr. king, they had firehoses turned on them. this time wasnt too long ago. so for black men, such as yourselves, to not be offended at this offends me. i dont give a "chit" if you have issues with my language. get over it. your such free speech advocates, here me expressing mine.
and for the record, again. once you go to the site and look around, you'll see that my wife is white. so that label of me being some problack militant is another stupid thought.
quote me on this. i am against hate and oppresssion. anything that depicts that or even hints of the thought, i have issues with. yes, there were no black faces on the nooses. the fact still remains that there were nooses. OBVIOUS nooses. i saw them, you saw them, everyone who saw the news saw them and for someone to say that they were hanging whatever...you stated the fact of the matter again for me...THEY WERE HANGING!!!!!!!
and i thought this was suppossed to be an educated debate?

Seriously dude, I don't normally do this, but to come on here and say you have "degrees" with your spelling, writing style, and how we all heard you talk is abso freaking lutely hilarious. Maybe you ought to get your wife to help you next time. Her website is much better written than yours. If you DO have "degrees" and "certifications", none of them are in anything resembling the spoken or written word. I hope you weren't educated in Ga.
This is my new signature.

Spin Doctr, now do you see the substance of what I posted? You talk of your education ( 5 degrees, and 2 certifications) and you write (type) like this? You are offended by the references to lack of education? Didn't any of your degrees or cerifications have you write some sort of term paper or the like? Since you use a computer (well, I can admit), has nobody ever shown you how to use Spell Check? And you want Blacks with education to take you seriously? That won't happen, SD.
Also, I did watch your video. I am aware of the nooses; and what nooses were used for. Again, if you just want to see Blacks hanging from those nooses, you will. The media will only see this for its controversy value or how the scene can be twisted or spun to acheive it. I still think it is the way people want to interpret the scene that will decide the issue.
The Confederate flag's proximity to the area means nothing. Like our American flag, it is just a symbol. It is a common one in the South; but it does not reflect the views of the people; or their politics.
Young man, if you want to hate, you will always find a target for that hatred. Do not assume that everyone (Blacks, in this example) share your hatred or your reasons for it. It might be to your advantage not to speak for others by interjecting your own viewpoints; and assuming that everyone else shares them simply because you have a common skin tone.
