Africans Less Intelligent than Westerners? - Page 3

That's my sentiment as well. I think that every measurable quality has a mean level that some will fail to meet and others will surpass. But different ethnicities have different advantages that can probably be traced to their environment. And even then, when a large portion of the population is "mixed" in some way, doesn't that render a lot of those theories moot? I know I have at least 3 different ethnicities in me, and my son is even more scrambled, I wonder how that figures?

I suppose that might be true in today's homogeneous world, but there ARE distinct differences between a person of pure Asian, African, Australian, and European descent. If those differences institute a "race" might be up for argument, but there ARE differences, and they aren't all physical.

I suppose that the PC police would have taken such a statement and run with it. Truthfully, it's a moot point. I would consider it racist if he had said Africans (and their descendants) cannot ever aquire the ability to learn. Otherwise, all the other factors of society and environment will (and should) be the deciding factor.

I don't think anyone's 'purely' a race. My classmate looks like a pure caucasian, but she told me that somewhere along the line, there were two chinese and one malaysian in her recent family tree. I wouldn't be surprised if I'm part African, part Caucasian, part native American etc. etc.

Actually, OC; up to now I've been willing to discuss race on the common belief that Black and White are two seperate races entirely. But, I've stated in other threads on race that my parents taught my siblings and I that there is but one race- the human race.

Actually, I think IQ tests are very biased as to what the test givers seek of the students. In that, the results can (and will be) biased. The only true thing that cannot be skewed are mathematics. Two plus two equals four in every society, for every known class, country. or color of all of us.

Whilst this guy is clearly way to old and should beput out to pasture. Its not actually stupid to say that Africans have less ability then Westerners to reason because the 'reason' he talks about is a Western concept. In comparison to a Westerner an African would have less ability to reason about things that effect westerners such as our society our economic structure and philosophy and so forth where as the reverse is also true. A Westerner left alone on th African plains is less likely to survive then an African left alone on those plains...reason is region dependent..the ability to reason and know how to survive in the wild is not needed in Western culture whereas the ability to debate a concept ..the issue is he makes a value judgement about that but in other respects the Professor is just stating the obvious

Yup...I agree there. But.....
I still wonder why my sistah and bruthas can't get our at together in the U.S. and establish something substantial as a people. The hispanics stick together, the Jewish people stick together, and Asian community, each separate one, seem to stick together. American Black folk can't seem to really get our collective asses in line.
Nutty, am I wrong in thinking this?
