  |  My grades in highschool; some B's, mostly C's and D's. My grades in college; some B's, mostly A's. I could have easily gotten A's and B's at my public school, but the teachers made class so boring as they just copied notes from the books onto the boards. Many times the teachers would have problems answering questions when they were put on the spot. I hate to rag on most of my teachers who I am friends with during my highschool experience, but it's all true stuff. Rarely I had a very good teacher who taught like a professor in college. All but a few professors in college made learning interesting, fun, and hands-on. HotshotGG i'm sure you, as well as myself, have enjoyed American Politics this semester! He was one great professor and just seemed friendly to all the students. If public education was just like college education, I think we would see an increase in grades all across the charts. This reminds me of another thing... Later hours for school?? | |

| Absolutely Ridiculous I am so sick and tired of hearing about "special rights" for everyone. Affirmative Action enables everyone who is NON white to have "special rights," like only the white people are racists. NEWSFLASH, there are people in ALL races who are racists. I dont care if youre white, black, hispanic, puerto rican, chinese, japanese, orange, red, green or yellow. Why is it that white people are made out to be this hideous group of minority haters?? You even have blacks that hate blacks, whites that hate whites, and other groups who hate people within their own race, should we consider that as people being racists against their own??? Do you suggest that if this was the white people establishing this practice of Affirmative Action for the white people that it would be ok???? If you do, then, you are absolutely WRONG. ALL hell would break loose if that were to ever happen. Although, this is isnt about all "minorities," however, its about the black and white issue. They try to categorize all minorities into this practice, however, its really a black/white issue. How often do you hear any other minority race causing such a problem in regards to being discriminated against?? Im sure that it does happen, but, Im also sure that its not to the degree that it is happening with the blacks. Gee, I thought thats what the Civil Rights Act was for? This is just another ploy being used to promote the notion that the whites are hateful people. First of all, I didnt start slavery. White people didnt even start slavery. Slavery was originated from the black people. They started slavery and it wasnt until later that these people were sold. Also be mindful that it just wasnt blacks that were slaves either. You dont hear about these other groups bitching every second they get. Now, from what I understand of slavery, I dont condone with how they were treated during that time, however, again, it stems back from the original roots of WHERE this started and WHO started it and WHO sold the slaves to the white people. Also, slavery happened how long ago? It has ended HOW long ago? It is ignorant for people to still use this as their "tool" for manipulation today. People who bitch and moan havent ever been through slavery and I, nor anyone here, has ever had slaves, so I think that its about time to let it go. I also believe that people like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, NAACP and ACLU prolong this ability to utlize and exploit blacks as well. I mean, how do you think these people/groups make their living? They use and exploit their own people to promote their own agenda and living. I have read many of these posts and some I agree with. I saw one who stated that the government failed these people. First of all, the people who hold these people back are the liberals. They also hold themselves back. The liberals promote programs such as welfare, which enables one to live life without having to get a job, and therefore, these people become TOO dependent on the government. This was why, when the levees broke in New Orleans, it wasnt really an absolute shock to see the reaction these people had. They are used to the free government handouts and so when something such as this atrocity of a large magnitude happens, who else would they turn to blame? They fail to realize that it was their OWN party who failed them, just like they fail to realize it is THEIR party who fails them now and has failed them from the beginning. They keep them in bondage with the welfare mentality which prohibits them from bettering themselves and their lives. It has also made me question as to why many minorities support the liberals. The fact that the reason why the Republican Party was started in the first place, is because the liberals were against the ending of slavery. It was because of this reasoning the party was split because not all agreed in the liberal party that slavery should end and the Republican Party was formed. I mean, one of their prominent leaders that they are so overwhelmingly support, Robert Bryd was a member of the KKK, yet, these people support this???? Yet, they want to preach that white people are hateful, ignorant and racist people?? I have come across MANY black people, as well as, others of other races, who are just as ignorant and hateful. Why do liberals hate people like Condi or Powell? It is my belief that the reasoning behind this is that many blacks are waking up to the manipulative ways of their own party. The liberals dont like them because people like Condi and Powell hurt their party. They dont like them because if other blacks would see that they too can be successful, they would lose a large amount of their support. Some are realizing that you can be successful in your life if you apply yourself. I work in a welfare related job and I think that EVERYONE should work in this field atleast once in their lives, because if people realize what a scam the welfare system is and see where their hard earned tax dollars are going, they would be outraged. I deal with alot of minorities. I have had political discussions with many of them. I use it to my benefit to work there, not to the benefit of the job. I had a discussion with one young black girl and she stated, "the older I get, the more I realize I am more a Republican with regards to my beliefs." She is on her way to getting her masters degree. Now, dont get me wrong, Im not against welfare, however, I do think that something needs to be done with respect to how the liberals want it to be. Im all for someone like that young girl, who struggles to go through college to be able to get some help until she completes her schooling. Unfortunately, the way it is set up now is basically a scam. Many people who utilize the welfare system live better than most folks that work, not all do, but some do, depending on the program they apply and receive. They have nice cars, dressed in nice name brand clothes, as their children are as well, they have cell phones, they have a different weave on everytime they come in, yet they cant pay their bills, but have multiple kids, half by different fathers and are pregnant again, they get food stamps, afdc cash assistance, utility allowances, medicare, etc. However, many claim that they have NO income. How the hell do you live on NO income yet, you have a nice car, name brand clothes, nice cars, etc. Most come into the office and claim that they are "owed" this?! Now on the flip side of that, there are some who live in the "projects" or "ghetto areas." If the liberals were so wanting these people to be better off, WHY do these people have to live in such areas? Why dont they FIX these peoples "projects" or "ghetto areas?" No, they dont, they just keep them blinded by their agenda and keep them manipulated into believing that they are "helping" them by enabling these people to have free handouts. Affirmative Action only hinders anyone who is not a minority in this Country, which would be the white folks. I surely dont think its fair that a person receives a promotion or a job based off the color of their skin because the employer would feel subjected to hire a minority over a white person for fear of a discrimination lawsuit. Anyone with common sense would realize that its up to each individual, NOT a race, NOT the government, NOT the NAACP or any other hateful group out there to be successful in life. Its up to ones determination to want to be successful in life. That would entail getting off of ones lazy ass and getting a job, going to school or starting their own business. I have been homeless before. I lived on the streets for a few years. That was many years ago and now, I have a good job, I have a nice car, nice house, etc. I am content because I have EARNED and WORKED for what I have. I also have recently started my own business. I did this all on my own. I didnt EVER rely on the government handouts or blame anyone else. I did what I HAD to do to survive. There is no excuse as to why someone else couldnt do the same. If there werent programs out there to hinder these people to the free government handouts, how the hell would they surivive? They would be FORCED to get a job and work like everyone else. I am sick and tired of people crying the "oh whoa is me" river and yet, they do nothing about it, but blame everyone else and Bush for their misery. Again, this is what the civil rights act was for, WHY is there a need for another program which is the same thing??? Its absolutely ridiculous. | |||||||||||||||||||||
