I don't support the idea of AA, but considering this country does nothing for its poorest communities/ghetto I feel it is a necessary evil, especially considering the large amount of racism that still exists.

But I do not truly think you hateful. You're just trying to present your opinion and express your frustration with your opponents. It happens all the time: everyone does it. That's debate. FINALLY, someone else with some common sense. THANK YOU!! I, for the record am NOT a hateful person whatsoever, however, I do get pretty aggravated when I am presenting my opinion, based off of MY observations and I get some of the replies that I do. That to me is plain ignorant. You atleast come at it with a debate and common sense, not just smart ass comments. This is a free country and I have the right to MY opinion, just as you or anyone else on this forum does. In regards to the insults, I call it as I see it. I am a very blunt and bold person. Thats what alot of people like about me, because, I dont play games. I call it like I see it. When I take the time to educate myself as I do and I speak on what I know, then, I dont have time for uneducated responses from people who cant even debate. I do alot of research and I have presented FACTS, yet, NO ONE on here has proven them wrong. To me, whether you agree or not, thats ignorance. If someone opts to post a mockery with no information to back it up except with smart ass comments, then, I do call that ignorant. Ignorant means uneducated. Also, the word judgement comes into play and is way over rated. There is a HUGE difference in judging someone and judging someones actions. One may like a person, but strongly disagree with their beliefs and/or actions. Thats not judging them as a person. Perhaps, Ill give you the credit for using the word "hateful." However, many atheists who are liberal that I have come across in life and on here do tend to be that way. I did mention that not all are like this, that there are some out there with some common sense.

And I recommend not judging all liberals and atheists until you have talked with all of them. I am a liberal atheist, and in fact I agree with you on this issue.

Again, I appreciate your ability to communicate with an educated response. It is finally nice to see someone else who would appreciate what I had posted. In fact, even if you DISAGREED with me, but came at me with respect as you do, Id still be appreciative of just that alone. Again, I dont take lightly to ignorant people. I dont have time for it. IF you would have disagreed and presented your reasonings as to why in a civil manner, then, youd be someone that Id hold respect back to.

In my opinion, we should not give people preference based on race. Actually, I think we should not treat people any differently at all because of race. How is racism supposed to go away when our government is making a big deal out of race? How can it go away when people have different benefits and privledges under the law because of their race? Race needs to be understood for what it is: a difference in appearance no more important than hair color, and it needs to be treated as such.

I agree. There is absolutely NO reason as to why someone of a different race should be given a position/job over anyone else. ESPECIALLY when that person is less qualified than someone else. Everyone wants equal rights, however, they continue to promote such things as Affirmative Action to continue to keep people divided. As you stated, thats like saying that redheads get discriminated against because more 'blondes' get hired than redheads. If people want equality, then, have at it - quit keep dividing up everyone to "fuel" more racial tension.

Absolutely correct. I know MANY who are very intelligent and articulate. I actually enjoy listening to Condi, for one, because to me, shes an intelligent and articulate individual.

Now I'm not trying to say racism doesn't exist, and I'm not trying to say black people don't face that problem. But if racism is preventing people from getting an education, let's ban that sort of racism. And if racism is preventing people from getting a job, let's ban that sort of racism. In most places, these things are already banned. This sort of law treats people of all races equally. It benefits blacks when they are being treated unfairly, but only when they are being treated unfairly. And it might also benefit whites if they are being treated unfairly.

I couldnt add nothing to that, because, thats right on target. IF something happens that someone feels they are being discriminated against as far as job related or education, etc., then, work on it from there. Also, do you remember when Denny's went through all them lawsuits alleging that they were being discriminating? Well, I worked for Denny's at the time. Let me just clarify, that half of those lawsuits shouldnt of even been handled. MANY came into the restuarant LOOKING and antagonizing people who worked there, just to hop on board the "sue Denny's bus." Also, now, I dont know if this is a fact or not, but, I have heard a couple of times that when blacks go to take college exams, that, they are given extra points on their tests. Again, I dont know that to be an absolute fact, however, this is just what I have heard. Perhaps, you might of heard something in regards to that? If that is true, is that fair to everyone else? Why is it fair that Kanye West could get on tv and make his racial slurs, but, if it were someone of the white race, that would NEVER be tolerated. Why is it ok for Pdiddy, or whoever he is, to raise money for "his people," and no one else??? People have become very hypocritical in their actions. They want to blame whites for being racists and doing the same thing they are doing. Its ok for them to do it though.

I'm also not trying to deny that it is tough living in the ghetto. But again, if the problem is the ghetto, let's fix the ghetto. Even if someone thinks the solution to the problem is an increased chance to get jobs or education, I don't see how they could possibly think that increased chance should be granted based on race. If we must have affirmative action, make it a "ghetto affirmative action" instead of a minority race one. Not all black people are from the ghetto, and not all white people are outside it. So if the ghetto is the problem, let's fix the ghetto. Let's not fix black people: black people aren't broken.

AMEN! That is my whole point. I cant for the life of me believe that liberals (no offense to you) but they want to continue to give these government handouts to make people think they are "helping" them, however, they refuse to fix these situations. I work in government housing. I see alot of these ghetto areas and projects. They are absolutely disgusting. Now, on the flip side of that, I have also been to these areas and see where these funds are going. These people allege that they are "poor" yet, they have brand new furniture, nice cars, huge big screen tvs etc. I have been to apartment complexes where they were actually being condemned and we just couldnt believe all the rent-way, rent a center trucks pulling in and out to get these peoples big screen tvs and huge stereo systems. Its ridiculous that people who do actually get up and go to work have to have their tax dollars going to fund these people. If people worked in a welfare job, they would be absolutely amazed at what they saw.

Now maybe a program like this "ghetto affirmative action" would still benefit mostly blacks. And that is completely fine. If more blacks are from poor conditions, then more blacks may need help. The problem is when we start thinking that being black and being from the ghetto are the same thing.

Exactly, because we know that not ALL black people come from the 'ghetto' areas. Its assinine to categorize all blacks into one group of individuals. The reason many become this way is because they rely on the government to "take care" of them. When they become accustomed to scamming the welfare system and have every option available to help them manipulate the system, then, that becomes their way of life. Its also a generational thing as well. Mom gets on welfare, daughter grows up to be 18, she enrolls herself on the system. She has kids, they turn 18, they enroll themselves into the system. Its time for them to break the cycle somewhere and realize that there are much more opportunities available to them.
