| Anyone else think Political Correctness... Anyone else think that Political Correctness is downright foolishness? Ok, sure, according to the pledge we should see all men (or women(as per intention :P)) are created equal. Yes, but we AREN'T all equal in any sense. Equality is another way of saying neutrality. That there is no change! This country wasn't made by a bunch of people who wanted to secede and asked politely of England to set them apart from the mother country. NO! It was made by people who wanted to separate and assumed that Britain would say a resolute NO! So America used violence and outright rebellion to separate from the 'unjust taxation without representation' Saying that you are politically correct is just another way of avoiding important questions. You see politicians who claim PCness and they say nothing offensive or even solid at all. Politicians like this don't say anything important, they say nothing but the claim that they will lower taxes and remove illegal immigrants. That's it. Nothing radical because that would be too large a move. It would provoke too great a chance to be taken as offense. This country wasn't made on the wishywashiness of our leaders. We took a solid stance, not a maleable one. It was steel instead of a plastic spoon. This country also prides itself on being able to differentiate within ourselves without rebellion. We can have radical intransigents without losing the concepts of America. Political correctness only provokes a state of no change. Nothing great will ever change in America as long as the problems remain unchecked. And our politicians don't suggest radical change, they suggest a maintaining grace. The only real problem with this is that there are actually problems with the thing that is being maintained. Problems like the dropping economy, media controls over the people (influenced or not by the gov.), and the multiple iniquities throughout the country. No, I'm not racist or any other such thing. Equality in rights is all fine and good, equality by other measures of merit are not. Possibly a contributor is the confusion between equality in rights and equality in self. Give me your thoughts, or at the very least, a yes or no. Or ridicule, that's useful too P.S. This might be lacking quite a few key points. "The Truth is out there" X files, | |||||||||||||||||||||

| Political correctness is simply a way to keep citizens from inadvertently hurting people's feelings or offend them. I see nothing wrong with it. Like EVERYTHING in the U.S., it can be taken too far. But, on its face, there is nothing wrong with trying to not offend others or hurt their feelings IMO> *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Conservatism: Self-centered mean-spiritedness fueled by ignorance and misguided self-importance. Unfortunately though...No matter how PC a person is, there's no such thing as 'not offending' some people. Because there's those that will find offense no matter what, simply cause they want to feel offended or pretend that they're 'being attacked' simply because they aren't getting full agreeance in something... In otherwords...Unless they're getting the 'sheep' reply of agreeance they feel they deserve, they are 'offended' no matter what. | ||||||||||||||||||||||

Wait aren't you the guy who says nobody has a right NOT to be offended?? If you are so concerned about protecting peoples' feelings why are you always shrieking about having marriage redefined to accommodate homosexuals - against the wishes of the vast majority of your fellow Americans?? How come you don't care about THEIR feelings?? knowuryder: and I should care what some dullard on a message board thinks about me because why exactly? | ||||||||||||||||||||||

| People should be resonsible, but honest. Too much PC is not a good thing. The truth is better, and it is even better when people take the time to say the truth in a way that respects others. But sometimes the truth hurts no matter how nicely you wrap it up. | |||||||||||||||||||||
