Level up: 56%, 142 Points needed | | I wonder how I didn't hear about the church burning down. THat is big news down here. I still think Nebraska is one of the least racist states you can find. When I went down to Arkansas, it was a different story. I was going to gag if I saw one more Confederate flag...

It's a Republican state! |

Glad to hear that. Downtown in the 70s and early 80s was pretty depressed. I do remember living on the south side and the smell of those stockyards on hot summer nights. Peeeuuuuuu. Good steaks in Omaha though. |

If the people at that lunch all went home and thought to themselves, "It's good to see white people helping black people without holding their race against them", then they do care about race, right? They did care that it was white people helping black people.
Now that isn't racist (quite the opposite), and it certainly was the right thing to do, but it isn't evidence that we don't need affirmative action.

YOU and the mindset of people like you, are not the solution to the problem. You ARE the PROBLEM. Nothing can ever just be what it is.
The POINT is NOT that a "white church is helping a black church". Why do you think that's such a huge deal?
The POINT is that whites and blacks were together, having a great time, and nobody paid any attention to who was white and who was black.
The other point is that this is something that would NEVER happen if Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, or other rabble-rousers were around. They don't want there to be cooperation and inter-racial mingling, where people don't pay any attention to race.
Get it? |

Or maybe if our country wasn't still racist the black church could have afforded the repairs to their church or never had the problem in the first place.

They had a fire and there was no arson. Faulty wiring. It happens every day to white, black, red, and brown people. |

The "black church" was well insured. There's no problem there.
Are you trying to imply that only "black churches" burn down?
The problem is that nobody has yet been able to figure out how to just snap their fingers and make a whole building appear. So in the meantime...
You can crawl back into your hole now. |

You can crawl back into your hole now. | You mean the hole where a black church being burnt down is the way to combat affirmative action? Sure whatever man.

| No, I understand that this church story is what it is: one group of people helping another. But it's not a reason to get rid of affirmative action. That is you trying to make it into something it's not. Quote: |

| I'm sure that's true, but I'm trying to show that this doesn't mean that people are no longer being judged on race. Quote: |

| I agree.
