The Democrats the majority of "yes" votes.

152/!53 Dems in the House vs 138/136 Reps.
46 Dems in the Senate vs 27 Reps.

More Democrats than Republicans voted for civil rights in both chambers of Congress.

If we were to omit the Southern votes, the Dems would have had a higher % voting for the bill than the Republicans. It was a regional divide, not by party.

Well, now you totally changed the argument. The fact is, a higher percentage of Republicans supported this bill. If you can remember back, there were more Democrats than Republicans in the House and Senate. Too bad a majority vote rests in the percentage of people rather than the amount of people which makes your argument null and void.

My only argument has been that large majorities of Democrats and Republicans came together to support civil rights legislation, and that opposition was focused nearly entirely in the South, by Southern conservatives from both parties. Republicans, percentage-wise, voted for the bill than against it than the Democrats, I'm not disputing that. However it is also true that Democrats provided the majority of "yes" votes for the bill.

And as for this racist stuff, anyone who did call you a racist, if anyone actually did, was wrong.

This must be the new math.

The quote: "-A Democratic Prersident signed the act into law.

-More Democrats than Republicans voted for the bill in the House and Senate. So? It was only because there were more democrats and republicans in both the Senate and the House. It is the percentages that count: the Dems had a significantly lower percentage of "yes" votes for the bill. If there was one Rep. senator and 99 Dems and only 2 dems voted for the act, you could make the exact same statement that you did. C'mon.

The original House version:
Democratic Party: 152-96 (61%-39%)
Republican Party: 138-34 (80%-20%)

Cloture in the Senate:
Democratic Party: 44-23 (66%-34%)
Republican Party: 27-6 (82%-18%)

The Senate version:
Democratic Party: 46-21 (69%-31%)
Republican Party: 27-6 (82%-18%)

The Senate version, voted on by the House:
Democratic Party: 153-91 (63%-37%)
Republican Party: 136-35 (80%-20%)

Then again, which party voted for an act 46 years ago really doesn't matter at this point in time, does it? As I've said before, there should be a limitations period for getting credit for something, or sympathy for being a victim of something. Whatever goodwill the Republicans deserve for how they voted in 1964 is completely immaterial today.

But that wasn't the case was it?
I understand where you're going , but that example is a bit ridiculous lol. My point was that it wasn't like Democrats as a party weren't fighting this tooth and nail and only a handful voted for the bill, same goes for Republicans.

I see your point, it's been over four decades and both parties have changed since then.

The Democratic plantation is taking clear advantage of the black popluation. They keep their minds in shackles, and give them hand-outs, so they won't succeed in life. They have them thinking that they can't, and instill a victimization trait in the black populace.

The more lefties keep calling everyone who doesn't agree with them, racist, the liberal establishment can keep on pushing their agenda through. They wish to keep the black population "dumb" and keep on giving them hand-outs and entitlements so they keep pulling the lever for anyone with a "D" before their name. You don't bite the hand that feeds you. IMO, Republicans actually want to help the black people by rolling back their welfare, and helping them get jobs.

Is it only the black population that gets handouts and entitlements?
