Affirmative Action & Race Issues Do you feel that affirmative action should be expired, or do you feel that it should still be enforced? Defend your views on affirmative action in this forum.

Look through college books. I just went through the process. Look at the percentages of races for all of the colleges. You will start to notice some trends. There are always more white people than anybody else. Why call affirmative action discrimination when the actual process of selecting applicants for students or jobs is discrimination in of itself. If you don't get a job or you don't get into a certain school, at some point or another you were discrimnated from the rest of the group for some reason. All you're crying about is something you can't change, which is the past. Affirmative action, while stupid and evil, is necessary because of the injustice, racism, and discrimination in our country's past. Fifty years ago many African Americans were still fighting just to vote! Conservatives are just completely being arrogant white trash by thinking that minorities are just as equal as whites in this country. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Until everyone in this country has equal opportunity to succeed from start to finish (which to the right's dismay and apparent shock does not exist), we will have to have awful programs like affirmative action.

Not ALL or most due to AA, even though AA hurts a small percentage of the white pop. that small amount of people still count.

but that is discrimination based on your not working as hard as the other people that DID get in. when AA is discrimination based on a stupid thing such as the color of your skin.

Affirmative action isn't reverse racism, it's a pathetic attempt to offer some sort of retribution to colored people living in America for all the injustice they've been done. It's a disgusting way to show concern for the colored community in America, and if anything, it's an insult to them.
What we owe them for something that happened many years ago? Yes, it was cruel and plain wrong but how is affirmative action a step in the right direction? And yes it IS reverse racism. To say that a white man cannot get a job because a black man applied for it IS racism.
