Just to open a topic of discussion here...

Affirmative Action, does it really even matter anymore? Does anyone here know anyone who has been effected (postively or negatively) recently by Affirmative Action?

Really? How do you figure? Do you think Affirmative Action is for minorities and against whites? HAve you read the law?

To hire illegal, non-Americans in our nation for under the minimum wage and NOT hire Americans FOR the required minimum wage IS Affirmative Action at its finest!!! Why do you think the repubs want to get rid of it?

Affirmative Action is about hiring legal minorities for equal pay. Thats all it's about. It has nothing to do with illegal immigration. Republicans want to keep everything nice and homogeneous... That's what they are interested in...

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with your tadpole. Affirmative action is about discrimination in the all areas. Employment is one but is covered mostly by EEOC.

You're not from the 1960's are you?

Have you heard of the class action suits under Affirmative Action by whites in med school?

Here's the site...I think if you read it, you'll see it applies to filing against employers for hiring illegals.

that's my take anyway..what say you?

Have I got this right? This means equal opportunities? Or racial specific equal opportunities?

Race aside, I worked recently for a company hot on both of those. My (lady)boss had one arm. The guy in front of me was in a wheelchair. We had two Asians (Indian families) and the rest were British white folks. I had just left a team with a guy with one leg, and we all sat twenty feet from each other.

It was quite something to watch them all interact and be part of it.
It's not the winning that counts... it's the taking APART. xxx
