Public Nudity
In some Muslim-dominated societies, women are forced to veil their faces in public. This upsets me, because I feel those women are being treated unfairly.

But can I really be upset only at those other societies, when our society does almost the same thing? After all, in our society, men are allowed to be topless while women are not. Is this any different?

What's so bad about letting women be topless in public if they want? It would be nudity, right? But what's so bad about nudity? Why has our society criminalized it? Why do we hide it from our children?

Thinking about nudity, I really can't see any harm in it. It does not appear to me that anyone is hurt by nudity. There are places where nudity is totally accepted, such as nude beaches, and I would have to imagine that the first humans in existence were naked their entire lives.

Yet today nudity is thought of as a horrible thing. People who are naked in public are fined and thrown in prison. Why do we issue this punishment? Is there something I'm missing? If so, what is it?

I think it all goes gack to Adam and Eve eating the fruit in the garden of Eden. . . lol

In all seriousness, I think you have a valid point, Jax. We are taught (from a young age) that public nudity in any way is "sinful." This indoctrination follows us to our graves. Do I believe that public nudity is sinful? Not necessarily, as long as people look but don't touch. . . Your excellent point just goes to show how much influence religion has over everyone's lives, regardless of our own personal beliefs. . .

I agree with Jaxian, and this relates to my post about equal rights for women to be topless. I think Nudity is natural and should be embraced. There is nothing wrong with the human form, it's natural and it's healthy. I don't think people should be nude all the time, and I surely would not go around in public nude, but I have no issue with others doing it.

I do see that there are cases where clothes need to be required for health and safety reasons, but if people want to jog naked down main street as Jaaaman put it, I am all for it!

Some snags
Well I can only imagine that it would be a terrible thing if public nudity caught on.

Where would all the geeks put their pocket protectors?

And well the malls would take great losses, if clothes were not as widely sought after.

And imagine spilling coffee on yourself at Starbucks...

So if we can remedy some of these glitches, then...let's talk again about this nudity business.

I think that plastic surgeons would do great trade in creating skin pouches the same as kangaroos have!
Funny how views differ from person to person, no need to ban people you don't agree with though hey!
