If only Washington would take notice of (and action against) the huge holes in our homeland security. Do we have to rely on grandmothers to secure our borders?

I'd rather have trained people than grannies. Shows you what priority our country really has for national security. Just another in the long line of Iraq war lies.

It is just so much hypocrisy from the Bush Administration. National Security is our top issue but yet we leave the borders unprotected? Hev, weren't you speaking of bizzaro world?

Unfortunately, the other side of the aisle isn't doing it's half of the job: offering constructive alternatives. Our problem is bigger than the White House and the Republicans.

I disagree. The administration has spent over 200 billion dollars in Iraq under the guise of making this country more safe against terrorists. Yet they leave the back door wide open as they fight a false war that will ultimately create more American enemies and as a result make us even less safe.

Neither Democrats, Republicans, moderate Conservatives, or Liberals wish to do anything about the Mexican border for fear of resentment from the hispanic population when election time comes. This is a sad fact. Like many I want our borders to be secure. But hev, placing the blame solely on the white house shows you blatant partisanship and inability to see through an issue without your rose colored glasses.

Neither the 535 members of Congress, the nine members of the Supreme Court, nor the President have taken action. We are a government of the people, by the people and for the people, and like it or not, the Minutemen are actually quite legal, utilizing the power of the 10th Amendment, the more power to them. Until such time as they break the law, as long as they abide by the laws, they have the right of free association and to do what the government is not able to do.

Your post makes a great point of why I think Instant Runoff Voting needs to be implemented.

The hispanic people that I have known who are here legally and have established roots here do not really support illegal immigration, so the excuse that the government is afraid of offending them is not supported. While they may have a better understanding of the plight of illegal immigrants and why they would be desperate to get into this country, they do not wish to be lumped into the same category as illegal hispanic immigrants. However, they are proud of their roots and how far they have come since arriving here.

I've worked with both Illegal and legal immigrants, (I worked at Burger King for an after school job) when I asked them if they were for illegal immigration they only said yes because the majority of their family were here illegally.
