Army Translator Suspected of Spying
"NEW YORK (AP) -- An Arabic translator for the Army may have secretly helped Iraqi insurgents by taking classified documents home from Iraq to Brooklyn, where he made a series of calls to numbers linked to the insurgency, a federal prosecutor said Monday."

It's sad that this guy managed to serve as a translator/interpreter for over two years without being detected. One more of the weaknesses of using defense contractors, I suppose.

It looks like the Department of Defense has some explaining to do. How could they let this person, carry on phone conversations with people involved in the insurgency, for over two years?

Sadly this is one of the dangers of having to deal with translators and interpretors. Although I definately think that they should have screened the guy better, this sort of thing is always a risk that you can not completely avoid.
