Level up: 18%, 47 Points needed | | Conservative Talk Radio What is the motivation behind Trent Lotts attack on public radio? Why isn't the solution to simply air some liberal talk radio? Can anyone guess why consevatgive talk radio far outnumbers liberal jabber-whining? |

Liberals don't need radio pundits and commentators to tell them what is right, good, fair and just.

Level up: 44%, 166 Points needed | | I think it's just a matter of what medium people feel most comforatable with.
For whatever reason, people who would tend to be more conservative also tend to be the type who will listen to radio. Whereas, liberals might be more the type to enjoy "underground" films. Therefore, Michael Moore does well in film and Rush Limbaugh does well in radio. Of course, that's just my opinon.
It's sort of like the thought I've always had that the reason you don't see very many "conservative" college professors is the same reason you don't see very many liberal mechanics.
The thought process that makes a person a good mechanic will probably steer him more toward conservative politics. Whereas the thought process that would make a guy a good liberal arts professor is likely to steer him toward liberal politics.
I don't see one as being superior to the other. The world needs all sorts of people, and I enjoy the company of salt-of-the-earth blue collar types as much as I like rubbing elbows with esoteric, artsy-fartsy people.
There are things about the basic conservative credo I love, and things about it I think are silly. Same with the basic liberal line of thought.

He made some valid points. It's more a 'fairness' issue. |

Level up: 45%, 162 Points needed | | Conservative radio is all about praising those who agree and villyfying those who disagree. That creates enormous pull for those who prefer not to think, but rather subscribe to imposed views.
Liberal radio on the other hand is less condemning, less likely to over-praise or endorse, and more likely to require the listener to derive their own points of view. That also means that it is less likely to have that same emotional loyalty from its listeners. Liberal radio show hosts are more likely to act as moderators rather than opinion leaders like Rush Limbaugh.
I have no facts to base this on other than the fact that i am a "liberal" in the ideological sense and i have a daily rush hour radio show.
I respect other people's opinions too much to ever try villifying them. And i think that respect for other people's opinion i a liberal trait.
ANd btw i do not mean to take sides in American politics. Reps and Dems are two sides of the same american coin. "Liberal" is an ideology. Not a gang.

As having to listen nightly to Bill O'Reilly (my husband's a fan... ) that is exactly what he does. |
