Tadpole..This is a innocent man from what I can see,
and the reason why I see the man is innocent the
paper do not state why he supposed to have killed
the cop.

However This seems to be a complete different type
of Death Penalty. To me there is two different kinds
of capital punishment (death penalty). The first one
is whenever there is a bunch of proof that a person
did take someone's life. I feel that capital punishment
should be served. On the other hand the law states
a person is innocent until proven guilty, and in this
Brother man case he is innocent until proven guilty.

Look at the witnesses who testified against him at
first, and now they have changed their minds about
what happened. According to the story these people
was against him at first, and now its a different story.

I am for the death penalty, but on the grounds that
I stated above, and because I do work in the legal
profession I do know that there is two sides to every
story.

So I suggest that in order to decide what is your
opinion about the death penalty think about it.

Tadpole, I faxed Jonathan Springston a letter this morning asking
questions about the case. Personally, What I am seeing is a bunch
of racist people who wants the man to die. The story only talks
about the cop being killed, but it does not give details why the
shooting happened in the first place, and that alone is a lack
of proof.

The Atlanta Progressive News site is blinking on an off, and
that's a sign that might send a virus to my computer.

I hope that the State of Georgia will look deeper into this matter,
due to the fact that this man don't deserve to die, and if he was
to admit that he did it... I say juice him.

Not because he killed a Cop, but because he knew better from
the beginning...not to shoot no white person, and thought that
he would get away with it. I am also waiting to read IF the jury
was all White, or was some blacks on the jury?

The death penalty in the US has always been applied to blacks more often than whites when compared to the prison populations.
Juries are human and as such prone to make mistakes. There is no reason to accept capital punishment as anything other than revenge killing.

1) The site is likely experiencing heavy user loads, it's not a sign you are going to get a virus...

2) He should have known not to kill ANY one else (assuming he's guilty), regardless of their color.

3) What sense does the Death Penalty make? Will killing the killer bring his victim back to life?

Agreed, and I see know good reason for a sensible, reasonable society to condone revenge killing.

And how did you figure this gem?????

Almost 60% of all death penalty exectutions since 1976 have been white where whites only make up about 6% of prison populations. Where as blacks make up 65% of all prisoners, blacks account for only 34% of all executions.

Juries may be prone to mistakes, however, this claim that we may execute an innocent person is just another holy grail. Opponents of a death penalty would ensure that the world knew the name of any innocent person put to death.

So much in this story about witnesses recanting testimony, coercion by police, and then in almost a quick hindsight, they mention how Davis was also convicted of killing a second person that night. Now, the reason he got the death penalty was because he killed a cop and in many state that qualifies as a special circumstance. I am interested in learning more about the second person Davis killed.

Conservatism, I repeat is not an ideology. It does not breed fanatics....But if you want men who seek, reasonably and prudently, to reconcile the best in wisdom of our ancestors with the change which is essential to a vigorous civil social existence, then you will do well to turn to conservative principles

I would be interested in learning more about the source that you are using to determine that 60% of the executions are white inmates.

Just curious and all.
