This is beyond outrageous!

Fortunately, it appears that it will not stand, and what's more, the judge in question now faces disciplinary proceedings.

Jail is too good for this homophobic bigot.
Maybe they will take away his kids for a while instead.

(And yes, I added the word "Activist" to the headline. I'm sure the anti gay rights people here will agree that is the right term to use when a judge goes against established law in making a ruling.)

MADRID (Reuters) - A judge in Spain has stripped a mother of custody of her two daughters because she is a lesbian, media said on Monday, in a ruling that has sparked an outcry in the gay community and brought disciplinary action against him.

In a ruling last month in the southeast region of Murcia, Judge Fernando Ferrin handed the girls over to their father's care, arguing that a homosexual environment threatened their education and upbringing.

He said a gay environment increased the "risk" that the children would also grow up homosexual.

"The mother has to choose between her daughters and the new partner," Ferrin was quoted as saying in his June 6 ruling which has only now come to light.

The decision provoked outrage among Spain's gay community, which said it ran contrary to the constitution, and prompted Murcia's Supreme Court to open disciplinary proceedings against Ferrin.

The same judge, in a separate case, already faces a probe into attempts to block the adoption of a girl by her mother's gay partner.

Homosexuals in Spain benefit from some of Europe's most liberal gay rights legislation following decades of repression, including imprisonment, under conservative dictator Francisco Franco.

Homosexuality was legalized in 1979 and two years ago the Socialist government made Spain only the third country in the world to legalize gay marriage.

How sad that this irresponsible mother disregarded the best interests of her daughter when she decided to pursue her own selfish interests by making an excursion into the world of homosexuality.

When will parents realise that the children must come first?

Well, according to some conservatives, he isn't an "activist judge", he's just trying to protect "traditional family values".

Values like taking kids away from fit parents?

But apparently she did take the girl away from her father and tried to replace him with a homosexual gal pal.

I was wondering the same thing when that judge took away a daughter from her mother.

The Judge may have exceeded his authority, I'm not an expert on Spanish law, perhaps you are.

My point is how sad that this irresponsible woman pursued her own selfish interests and forced the poor daughter into such a lamentable situation.

A lamentable situation? How so? What is seriously so bad about a child being raised by two moms, as opposed to a mother and a father? I'd personally rather have the child be raised by two parents as opposed to one, but that's just IMO.

Gay people are so bad at parenting, it is better for children to be ripped away from their parents and go without.

This has been conclusively proven by... well, no one. But that doesn't matter. It feels true to the homophobes, and that's good enough for them.
After all, it's for the good of the children!

Yes. Apparently, one "traditional family value" states that it is better for a child to have one straight parent rather than two gay parents.

Or for that matter, better for the child to have no parents than to have gay parents.

So we just throw all the children on the street and say, "tough luck kid, we are homophobes and dont think you should be living with your loving mother...Have a nice life"
