We are officially now giving out registration cards to illegal aliens.
And, because of it, are going to lose MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of dollars in federal funding for various things.
It's ABSURD. Forget about it just being wrong. There is no reason for it! We are a university city. We don't have big companies and factories with lots of jobs to offer. All we're going to do is bring in aliens for these cards - who won't even be able to get a job! And, they won't be eligible for any state benefits.
I usually am proud of my city - but tonight I feel like we've really struck an all-new low.
And it pisses me off.

And it pisses me off. | Reading this just saddens me. I see your city just giving away the privelage of staying in our country, yet remember the struggle my hubby and I had to go through for 5 years, for him to remain here legitimately? We had to stuggle emotionally, financially, and mentally for him to earn that privelage...One he earned and has good reason to be proud of accomplishing...
Then your words here just make all that hardship and work look...like a waste. Because those that are given the open door won't have to sacrifice anything financially, emotionally, or mentally...They just get a free pass while we'll never be compensated for everything we went through that they'll be exempt from because of what city is doing?
It peeves me off to say the least. |

Why are Hispanics so damn special? Simply because of a large voting population?
I see young Sudanese men at the grocery store, working soooo hard bagging groceries, working their hardest. One young man I talked to was so polite. It was obvious he was working hard to learn English, and he couldn't say enough lovely things about this country. He couldn't wait to become a citizen. Would this young man EVER think about hanging the Stars and Stripes upside down UNDER a Sudanese flag? Hell no. Yet do we have to press '2' for Sudanese?
I don't think there's one of us who have a problem with people wanting to come here from other countries LEGALLY. You work hard, learn English, learn it's history, pass the test and become a citizen. You then pay taxes and reap the rewards of 'the American Dream'.
What I have problems with are people who come her simply to get free welfare, health care (especially when 40 million American citizens go without), food stamps, and work, only to send all that back to Mexico or Honduras or whereever, and never feel the least bit of loyalty to the country that is giving all that to you.
