Any Similiarity Between Gay Rights and Civil Rights?
gays were denied jobs for being gay

gays were denied the right to gather in public or private.

gays were denied the right to send information on homosexuality through the mails and were denied the right to publish and diseminate such material

gays were murdered and beaten up and their attackers set free because they did it to a
gay person

gays were denied housing

gays were rounded up and put into jail and prison with no crime committed except they were gay

gays were denied the right to have sex with a consensual partner

gays were castrated and given lobotomies simply because they were gay

gays were given shock treatments

gays were denied the right to form orgainizations

gays were denied the right to even touch each other in a gay bar.

gay bars were frequently raided and patrons arrested simply because they were gay

gays won all their civil rights from the courts.

... any of this sound familiar?

Conservatism: Self-centered mean-spiritedness fueled by ignorance and misguided self-importance.

Bigotry is a social disease.

Legalized same-sex marriage almost certainly benefits those same-sex couples who choose to marry, as well as the children being raised in those homes. - David Blankenhorn is president of the New York-based Institute for American Values and the author of "The Future of Marriage."

Just because the symptoms are the same, doesn't mean it's the same disease. Comparing the abnormality that is homosexuality to racial discrimination is off base and disingenuous.
And if I might add disrespectful and rude to the list.
This is my new signature.

Well, we have a different definition of polite then. I have yet to make slanderous comparisons of any culture, yet you find it perfectly legitimate to do so. I would say those slanderous remarks are less than polite.

Yes, calling people obtuse and psychotic is very polite. [sarcasm off]

I don't read his posts any longer - but it seemed that he was getting the same bug that garysher has...an overwhelming need/compulsion to garner attention from gay people - any attention - even if it's contempt.

I think it's a sign of a broken and defective self-esteem.

If I wanted attention from gay people, I seriously doubt I would spend my time talking to the same handful that are here.

When one person thinks incest is okay you have to wonder about psychosis.

And when someone calls me the elementary term "stupid" I call him the more grammatically advanced "obtuse".

The comparrison between civil rights and gay rights is spot on!
A minority group getting denied or different rights just because of who they are.
--- help me Instant Runoff Voting, you're my only hope ---

There is little doubt that the world in general is more liberal than it was 50 years ago and beyond. Conservatives are simply roadblocks on the path to an ever more progressive and liberal world. What a sad existence.
