I refrained from getting interested in it this year...I have too damn many 'must see' programs. So I gave myself a limit this summer LOL.

I'm like you , Tristan. Only my pet peeve are these scripted "reality" shows.I must be the only one who can't stand "American Idol". I like the base idea for the series; but why is it that Simon Cowell must humiliate the performers? And why do they seemingly hunt for a William Huang-type every year to disgrace? I actually can't see the interest in this; but to each his own. I know how to hit the off switch on my remote if I don't like something.

You are not the only one, joe. I don't watch AI either, especially the early episodes. I think to myself, don't these people have friends or family that tell them they can't sing?

I don't watch reality shows, just for principle. I've never watched a Survivor, and only have peeked at Wife Swap and Super Nanny when my husband couldn't find anything else.

I really enjoy dancing, though, so one night as I was flipping through channels I caught a rerun on Fox Reality of the final 12. I watched that, then got interesed enough to watch the rerun of the final 6 on FR, so I was really curious who would win.

About the only one we watch is Hell's Kitchen. And we'll probally watch Chef Ramsey's new show that starts this fall, Kitchen Nightmares. Very rarely, we'll watch "Who Wants To Be A Superhero'. But watching more then one or two of that show can drive a person buggy because of the corniness of it.

We have watched a few episodes of the Nanny show. Mostly to point and laugh at the sheer stupidity of some of the parents.

My favorite has to be the father who looked the Nanny in the face, totally puzzled, and said, "You want me to get down on the floor and color with her?" like it was a totally alien concept. (Poor kid)

I've seen the advertisements for that show, but not watched it...Yep, I'd have been a bit surprised seeing the father act like that myself. I've always taken it for granted, I guess, that all parents enjoy coloring/painting with their kids. Heck, when my boys were growing up, that was one of our favorite past times. Coloring together, putting puzzles together, board games, etc...It's called 'family time'.

It is also called "learning time."

When my nephew -- whom I practically raised from ages 2 thru 5 went to 1st grade his teacher said that they could always tell which children had been read to and taught at home.

He had classmates who didn't even know their colors.

He, on the other hand, identified periwinkle and umber as two of his favorite colors.

I couldn't agree with you more there CF. For me, that was one of my favorite times with my boys, the actually doing things together and helping them learn. I guess the father you just described probally wouldn't get caught helping his children with their homework either eh? ROTFLMAOL!!!
