There is little doubt that the world in general is more liberal than it was 50 years ago and beyond. Conservatives are simply roadblocks on the path to an ever more progressive and liberal world. What a sad existence.

Almost everywhere else in the world, outside of a few states in the "Land of the Free", he could have married any woman he wanted!

Funny you should mention that. He REALLY seems to like little blonde chicks. I don't know where he could have gotten that from since I'm a brunette/redhead/ or Asian man myself. But as far as his not being to "marry", I don't think that's gonna be a problem for him. He's showing strong hetero tendencies.

so true - and such a short, short time ago

he would have to hope that the woman he wanted to marry was black - otherwise, he'd be s.o.l.

Legalized same-sex marriage almost certainly benefits those same-sex couples who choose to marry, as well as the children being raised in those homes. - David Blankenhorn is president of the New York-based Institute for American Values and the author of "The Future of Marriage."

I wasn't referring to sexual preference. I was referring to the fact that he is not white. Just because of who he is he would not have been allowed to marry as he wished in America. Nor would you. Sound familiar?

Only if he lived in a few states in the USA.

I once heard a version of Dancing Queen by ABBA with the words changed to Drama Queen.

Not really...He probably wouldn't even exist. But then again I guess gay people today should be glad they weren't born in the middle east where they'd be shot.

I would clearly and firmly advise you not to use my son for this bullshit. Or I will get myself banned. Especially you Tristan. I saw your friggin picture and chose "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything" stance.

From the 19th century into the 1950s, most US states enforced anti-miscegenation laws. From 1913 to 1948, 30 out of the then 48 states did so...and did not recognize such marriages that were performed in consenting states.

"By 1967, when the U.S. Supreme Court once and for all declared prohibitions against intermarriage unconstitutional in Loving v. Virginia, only seventeen states, all in the heavily Protestant South, upheld anti-miscegenation statutes."

It makes us Brits sad to think that you suffered under apartheid laws until quite recently.

Still, it's all in the past now.

BTW this is off-topic.
