Anyone watch the
bio on Elton John on Biography last night?

I fell asleep halfway through, but what he said about being homosexual was very interesting.

I'm going to paraphrase here, but he said 'I can't help being homosexual. Those people who say you can change if you want to, well, that's bullshit. I didn't choose to be this way, why would I? But I'm happy with who I am now."

Kind of like Popeye who said: "I yam what I yam." LOL

I didn't see it. But his feelings echo my own exactly.

Conservatism: Self-centered mean-spiritedness fueled by ignorance and misguided self-importance.

Bigotry is a social disease.

Legalized same-sex marriage almost certainly benefits those same-sex couples who choose to marry, as well as the children being raised in those homes. - David Blankenhorn is president of the New York-based Institute for American Values and the author of "The Future of Marriage."

He also called himself the 'World's most famous poof'.

What an incredible person he is. He was here in concert about 9 months after Diana died. Considering his talent and long career, he could have just done his show, and been done with it. But he was the most gracious person. One man had painted a picture of Grand Rapids for him, and he took it and said how touched he was that the guy had taken the time. Then he thanked his fans for all the heartfelt sympathies he had gotten in the last year (as his good friends Versaci and Diana had both been killed).

I respect the Hell out of Elton John. He's eccentric as a moonbat.. but heck.. that's probably exactly WHY I can identify with him...LOL.

Musically, he's utterly amazing. Sure, most of his recent stuff is over-the-top cheesy. But then again, who doesn't get a little cheesy with age? The stuff he and Bernie Taulpin (sp?) did together is still just flat-out jaw-dropping.
And on top of that, he seems like a genuinley nice, pleasant person.

I think homosexuality being a "choice" is a pretty moot point by now.

Even those of us who question the "normalcy" of it (and that would include me) understand that it's common friggin' sense that there's no concious "choice" involved.

And I get a kick out of these people who still "worry", for instance, about their kid's science teacher being gay -- because it might "rub off" on the kid.

Like I can see myself back in high school, thinking:

"Gee, Mr. Smith is gay. So, you know what, I think I'll quit pasting my eyeballs on all these hot girls in designer jeans and just be gay. Yeah, if it works for Mr. Smith, I'm sure I can just ignore these girls and be gay."

Yeah, right... LOL!!!

What about the study that shows the kids of lesbians being more likely to indulge in same-sex sexual acts? You don't necessarily have to be "gay" to be influenced to do unnatural things. I know anal sex never even occurred to me until I got old enough to indulge in porn.

I can see a gay teacher influencing a certain percentage of kids.
This is my new signature.

So how come he married an Australian girl, Renate Blauel, and stayed married for 4 years before suddenly realising he was homosexual?

That's one way to dump your wife I suppose!

Maybe he's bi-sexual. Or, as my Mom used to put it, "One of them Bi-centennial people."

Well, I can only speak for myself, but since about age 10, I've been so enthralled with good-looking females in my general age range -- I doubt ANYTHING... much less a gay teacher or two -- could have distracted me from my general adoration and longing for them.

Regarding gay parenting.. well, time will tell. I, personally will see it as an "alternative" to the real deal of biological parents -- and never an even-terms replacement.

But lots of things are so. Including divorced parenting -- of which I am a participant.

Influenced to do unnatural things? Hmmm... I don't know. I wanted to "go down" on females long before I'd ever read anything about it, watched any porn involving it or even knew the proper words to describe the act of doing so. I just looked at a girl in shorts one day.. and knew exactly what I wanted to do.

I'd say in my case at least.. it was a very natrual urge. And really, I think it serves a natural purpose too. Many women aren't fully prepared for or able to get full enjoyment from intercourse until that's done to them. In fact, it seems the number one complaint I've read/heard from women is that their men either won't do that, or don't know how to do it with the proper method and level of enthusiasm.

Anal sex? Well, I've tried it a time or two. The first time, mostly because the woman I was with suggested and asked for me to try it. I also know that stimulation of the anus -- even with only a fingertip can, again, serve a practical purpose. It can cause some women a level of pleasure and excitement that will allow them to enjoy the vaginal intercourse that follows much more than they might have been able to otherwise.

You say that like it's somehow a bad thing, when it's just a natural (oh, there's that word!) part of finding out who you are.

If everyone who was curious it about just tried it once (in a social atmosphere where it isn't taboo), instead of, oh, let's say, starting a giant church in Colorado to publicly preach against the evils of it while secretly visiting a gay male prostitute and meth dealer on the side, I think the world would be a happier, more tolerant place for everyone.

In short, if people were simply allowed to be honest about who they are, sexually, without all the puritanical BS, life would be easier.
