Thumbs up I minored in LGBT studies
Well, not really, but I wish I had. Programs like this simply didn't exist when and where I went to college. Thank goodness they do now!

THIS is why social progress for LGBT people is unstoppable in this country: education.

Just a few tidbits here... click the link for the full article.

More schools offer gay studies classes - Yahoo! News

Years after creating a smattering of gay-related classes, more than two dozen American universities are now offering full-fledged minors in gay studies and expanding the field to include disciplines across the college curriculum.

Issues such as same-sex marriage and gays in the military have fueled interest in the programs, which have been established, among other places, at Ivy League institutions Yale and Cornell and DePaul University in Chicago, one of the nation's largest Catholic schools.

Many schools, rather than offering a degree in gay studies, have added gay-related courses under an umbrella of new programs looking broadly at human sexuality. In some cases, heterosexuality is being debated as a construct that is as much social as biological.

Trollers would not care about that, Forester. More likely, they would be interested.

From the article:

"There is no giggling, no debate about whether homosexuality is normal and no discussion of whether gays should have rights, he said."

So, in other words, these courses are basically an intellectually dishonest echo chamber.

Nice.
As we saw on that other "debate" forum where any dissenting opinion was deemed "hate speech", this kind of stuff only leads to even more delusion.
This is my new signature.

I think gays have the same right to human dignity as anybody. Nobody should be afraid to walk down the street or worry about whether they will lose their job simply because they're gay.

I think most people feel the same way.

But these attempts by the P.C. left in general and the more left-leaning element of the GLBT rights movement in particular to muzzle any and all questioning and debate -- and rush to label anything or anyone that does't toe the party line as "hateful" and "dangerous" -- will, I think, eventually backfire.

ANd speaking of gays, I'm sure most of you, if not all, have read about the arrest of eight Neo-Nazi men for their crimes in Israel, which included attacking gays.

I have not heard that. Sadly, it does not surprise me. Despite the rampant hyper-psuedo-masculinity of the Neo-Nazi culture being rife with homoerotic over-and-undertones, gays seem to be near the top of their "to hate" list.

But then again, those homoerotic trappings might be exactly why they lash out at gay so harshly.

I think, though, that once you start sliding down that slippery slope that one group of people aren't "normal" or don't deserve the same rights as others, you leave yourself wide open to things like hate crimes being okay.

It took years of anti-semitic propoganda to make it seem okay in Germany to their people to do what they did during the Holocaust.

Here is the story. I first heard about it on Los Angeles's KNX-1070 newsradio.

So you think we should accept zoophiles as "normal" and give them the right to have their way with their chosen animal?

Or are we to accept your version of "normal" as being the correct one?

Hate crime is an oxymoron. There is ample legislation already available to prosecute almost anybody for almost anything.
