I can understand G and L but why B and T?
I can understand why gays and lesbians (G and L) would want to combine forces to lobby for special rights.

Leaving aside the slight redundancy created because lesbians are also gay, just female gays.

But why would they want to combine with bisexuals? Do they claim that bisexuality is also genetic? Or are bisexuals merely confused or chronically indecisive?

What additional rights are bisexuals actually fighting for? Their heterosexual side already has everything that's available. And their homosexual side is already covered under the G's and L's.

Even more unfathomable is the strategy of linking arms with the "transgendered" - men trapped in women's bodies and vice versa.

Are we to believe that being "transgendered" is a genetic tendency too? Or is it mostly weird guys who get a sexual thrill from dressing in women's clothing, and butch girls who want to attract lipstick lesbians?

And are they so utterly confused that they want to permanently maim their bodies to try and kid themselves (but not others) that they aren't what their bodies say they are?

Aren't the "transgendered" homosexuals too - just a subset of the gays and lesbians?

Surely the G's and L's would have a much stronger case if they left the B's and T's to fight their own wayward battles, instead of being hoisted by their own petards?

"GLBT" just sounds cool, I guess.

This is a topic I should have had to work with while I was bored on the machine this morning. I'll revisit this Monday morning.

It doesn't roll off the tongue as easily as "gay", which we used quite happily in the 70s and 80s, though. I mean, how do you pronounce it?? Gilbert?

It is simple really Garysher.

Everyone needs to be accepted.

And it is the gay community that has been most accepting of the Transgender and Bisexual.

You Garysher, by your perjorative verbage show that you only posted such a topic with feigned interest, and truly were using the topic as a means to further spew your own unacceptance of folk.

A bisexual individual is just as "unusual" as a gay in most heterosexual people's eyes. The gay community is simply embracing those outcasted for their sexual preference. Do they claim bisexuality to be genetic? No, I don't think so. I do believe that a total homosexuality can be caused by chemicals within the body (if you'd like me to elaborate on that just ask), but bisexuality is simply a mental occurance or perhaps confusion. The brain works very mysteriously, and there is much about it we do not know. In conclusion, the gays have united with bisexuals simply because they are, well, half-gay and therefore "socially unacceptable".

The same as the above as far as transgendered. Simply outcasted and therefore embraced by the gay community. As for the additional rights bisexuals fight for...well, I would definitely guess a homophobic anti-gay would also not have much nice to say about bisexuals, and therefore they pretty much fight for the same reasons... to be accepted by their society.

Who the hell are you to say something like that? You don't know what it's like for them (nor do I, but I don't make stupid assumptions such as yours). And to speak on a little detail: "or is it mostly weird guys" I have a question: What constitutes weird? Different? Unique? Or perhaps is it simply different culture and opinion that you reject simply because it is different. Weird is a matter of perspective, my friend.

No, they can unite however they choose. And they have united well in my eyes. I have previously outlined their reasons and they're all in the same field of discrimination. Transgendered Homosexuals simply prove that they are women within a man

In conclusion, I think you are a Homophobic individual and simply created this topic to rant and spew.

LOL that'd be a great news story:

"Today Gilbert activists marched on Capitol Hill to demand their equal rights as Gilbert Americans..."

Is it strange that I think of BLTs whenever someone mentions the GLBT acronym.
