| Larry Craig, Dirty Politics or Actual Behavior I know you all discussed this but I have waited to see what the out come would be of Larry Craig's charges. I believe it is a shame that we cannot depend on honesty in law enforcement. I say that with full and personal knowledge of how dirty politics can get and I lived in Idaho with my children for over twenty years. I happen to believe Larry Craig signed that pleading not fully understanding what the ramifications would be. The plea did not say "I was seeking sexual activities in the airport bathroom." I recall the day still very clearly that my own son was charged with false acussations of sexual misconduct by a police officer and an irresponsible prosecutor who used a known false statement from a former employee's daughter. She claimed that she saw misconduct by my son. In court she admitted that she was merely mad at, "His mother. She fired my mom and dad." In all of that fiasco I refused to sign any agreement that was not true. It cost us a small fortune and was very hard on our family. There is much more to the two years of hell these people attempted to put us through. The short story form of it is that corruption of politics and greed is very dirty. I believe Larry Craig did not want to face the cost, the hassle and the emotional roller coaster of a court trial to defend himself against these charges. Can you imagine the cost of a court trial in Minnesota if you worked in Washington and lived in Idaho? I can. The simple way out is not always simple. Moral of the story stand on truth always or accept the consequences of agreeing to a lie. Since there was no trial there is no one that can truly say one way or another if he is guilty of the original charge. The shame of the whole matter is that he agreed to a lie if he did nothing wrong. He cheated the people that voted for him. The people depended on his integrity. It is now severly damaged by admitting to something that he now claims he did not do. It is not up to the senate majority or anyone other than Larry Craig to decide what he should do at this point. He will have to search his own heart and decide for himself what is "the right thing to do." If he decides to complete his term then the people can decide if they still want him in public office. If he decides to step down then the Idaho Governor can determine his replacement. Democrats can claim whatever they want. The truth is they are just as dirty as any Republican out there. I have personally seen a state Dem party leader snuffing white stuff off of his desktop in years past (just happened to open his office door at that exact moment) and I have suffered from their corrupt BS for years. Why? That story is for another day. Are they all corrupt. Everyone is corrupt in way way or another. Each though has an obligation to try not to be and when they are exposed or caught pay the price. It was an old Dem US Senator that warned me, " Awe huny, all sheriff's are crooked. I know I was one for 17 years." At the time he told me that he had been a US senator for 20 years. I did not ask if all senators were crooks. I do have some suspicions on the matter though. I believe he was truly just trying to be honest with me. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| well, I - for one - believe he is totally guilty he actually expects people to believe that he was running his hands under the stall divider to get a piece of paper - FROM THE FLOOR OF A PUBLIC AIRPORT BATHROOM???? I don't think so - and I'm usually willing to give the benefit of the doubt - but this is as cut-and-dried to me as the OJ case *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* "know this is EXACTLY why people think you shouldnt have equal rights" 2/11/08 Grace | |||||||||||||||||||||

| He may be guilty and he may not be. I think he probably is. The reality is that, had he gone through a trial, it would have been splashed accross every newspaper in the country. With the media's love of scandal, he was probably just trying to make it go away quietly and it backfired. Not judging it as right or wrong, just recognizing the vulnerabilities of his position. | |||||||||||||||||||||

I can personally say of all the people of your nature Tristan I saw attempting to use them as pickup stations, Larry was not one of them. I observed many people picking up paper off of the bathroom floors. Why, because not everyone is a slob. My people and myself worked very hard to insure those facilities were as sanitary as possible. Decent people appreciate that. I walked into a facility as one lady was picking up paper others had dropped. She told me what pigs people were and how much she appreciated being able to stop at a clean facility. People like her and Larry Craig are why we worked so hard to keep the places clean and in good working condition. Cut and dried as the trial OJ had. Fact, he did not get a trial. He choose the route he thought would be easiest. He pleaded a guilty charge to a misdemeanor misconduct.

I'll give you that. He took the easy way out. My point was that public figures will do that to try to avoid problems. As private citizens, most of the time, we don't have to worry about being splashed everywhere.

In many instances justice has gotten to be only what one can afford to pay for. In many places throughout this nation if you can't pay the attorney bills to buy a good actor that is good at twisting the truth or know someone who knows the judge or pay off the judges you may very well be screwed. Get on the bad side of someone who wants what you have or does not like what you have to say, you could very well feel the wrath of that unjust system. And politics is one of the worse.....

| I believe he was indeed soliciting for sex in the restroom and should step down from the Senate. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| First, it is not and was not the democrats attacking Senator Craig. It is the republican leadership that is doing that. I believe the dems don't like him, but they aren't judging him in this matter. Second, he is a United States Senator. A lawmaker. Do you really believe he doesn't understand the law? I don't care if he stays in the Senate, the people that will eventually decide his fate are his constituents, and that is how it should be. | |||||||||||||||||||||
