Unfortunately, if this kid ends up in foster care they will probably just screw him up worse.

But, based on what this article says about his parents, he was pretty much doomed from birth.

Father convicted of felony manslaughter, mother buys him assault weapons.....

Wonder what else was going on in that household?

This reminds me of a Christmas movie awhile back. One of Santa's elves told a boy, "Santa does not give guns and rifles to children. Only parents do."

My old man started me out on an air rifle when I was about 8. And when I showed I could be responsible with that, I was allowed to use the .22. And so on up until I got big enough and old enough to hunt with the shotguns and high-powered rifles.

But even the guns that were "mine" could not be taken out by me without supervison until I reached a certian age and displayed a certian level of responsiblity.

Yeah, just saying, "here, junior, have a 9 mm," is pretty irresponsible, IMO.

Amen to that, MyT.

Hmmmm...maybe that's why I didn't get the bazooka I ask Santa for when I was a kid?

I started with a 30-30 when I was nine. Knocked me on my ass. I deer hunted every year until I was 13 and decided I didn't like tromping through the woods before dawn and peeing behind a tree. (what can I say? My fathers attempts to turn me into a boy failed)

I've never seen the need for an assault rifle unless you're at war. IMO, this woman should be prohibited from ever purchasing even a bb gun.

(I've always wanted one of James Bond's cars myself.)
