Reported by CNN 18 October 2007 Quote: Putin calls on U.S. to set pullout date in Iraq
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday called on the United States to set a date for withdrawal from Iraq, saying the U.S. military campaign had become a "pointless" battle against the Iraqi people. Putin used a live Russian TV and radio broadcast to criticize U.S. policy in Iraq, which he said was aimed in part at seizing oil reserves.
| At the Goup Of Eight Conference, in St. Petersburg, Russia, Bush told an assembly of reporters that he had talked with Putin of his "desire to promote institutional change in parts of the world like Iraq – where there is a free press and free religion – and I told him that a lot of people in our country would hope Russia would do the same thing." Putin responded: "We certainly would not want to have the same kind of democracy as they have in Iraq, I will tell you quite honestly". Bush, then, replied: "Just wait".

Points: 13,970, Level: 76 | Level up: 77%, 80 Points needed | | I was listening to Los Angeles newstation KNX-1070 yesterday and the news mentioned that the USA has picked out sites in Iran to be bombed if Iran is still producing nuclear stuff, and if Iran is supply the Iraqi Shia with weapons.

About how many members of Congress and Senate would back Bush on this? If a great majority don't and he decides to go ahead and do it anyway, could they start impeachment proceedings outside of railing against him?
