Two recent riulings from other countries
I thought these were relevant to some recent posts suggesting the U.S. was uniquely "intolerant" or prejudiced in not allowing gay people to call their union a "marriage". To that I say BS!!!

http://www.lifesite.net/ldn/2007/nov/07110202.html
"But Argentina's judiciary has consistently disagreed, basing itself on the very nature of human sexuality as a procreative act. They repeated this reasoning in their latest ruling. "Stable homosexual cohabitation corresponds, as a personal decision for each one, to an option that is carried out in the sphere of intimacy," wrote the judges of the Civil Chamber Court F. "But marriage transcends the sphere of intimacy. The refusal to consider unions between people of the same sex as matrimony exceeds an exclusively sexual perspective.""

Common sense at it's finest. A great big DUH!!!
And...
Irish government to introduce civil partnerships- from Pink News- all the latest gay news from the gay community - Pink News
"He confirmed that the special place of marriage in the Irish Constitution there would be no moves to legalise gay marriage."

I agree that should be the case. But this is weird...

"The government proposal is to set up a new agency to register partnerships, which could be formed by any two individuals who are co-habiting including family members".

Ewwkay.

The homosexual union should not be called a marriage. Ever.

THIS is "intolerance".
Commonwealth meeting could promote homophobia- from Pink News- all the latest gay news from the gay community - Pink News
"One MP, demanding a "clamp down" against lesbian and gay Ugandans, said that the international event, to be held in the capital Harare later this month, would be a good opportunity to "send a clear message that gays are not welcome in Uganda."

I'm off researching my home theater so I won't be around for a while. You guys enjoy my absence. I'm Fxated elsewhere.

You know it really doesn't matter to me if its called "marriage" "civil partnership" or "horse s^%" as long as I have the same rights with my partner now as I did when I was with a man. Yes we were "married" in Canada. That was our choice becouse we could have just signed the civil partnership papers.Yes I am going to live in the UK which has civil partnerships. Not becouse we want to live there but becouse we have too.All I want is my right to be with who ever I want to be with and to have the same right as any other family in the US.Yes some people think that without marriage rights we are second class.Well I have been second class all my life but I still had rights. To me the importent thing is "RIGHTS" and I will fight for that here in the US as well as anywhere in the world for whoever needs me to.I do believe in taking care of your own which means we need to take care of our own backyard before we clean up others, but I also believe that there are others in this world that can't take care of themselves and need our help.We have always said freedom for all. Now lets give that freedom to our own people and then go clean up other countries back yard. We can't do for others till we do for ourselves.

The homosexual community always tries to turn this into a RIGHTS issue, whereas the reality is that two people of the same sex simply don't QUALIFY for marriage.

Neither do three, four or any other number of people of whatever sex.

Neither do close relatives.

Neither do able-bodied people qualify for handicapped parking permits.

So infact it isn't about rights at all. You have exactly the same rights as every other American.

Why do you think you deserve special rights just because you pursue a defective sexual behavioural model?

Do one-eyed, hunched-back, mongoloid mimes qualify for marriage?

Being gay isn't the issue.

Marrying someone of the same sex, or a close relative, or more than one person - those don't qualify for the marital relationship.

Just like you can't be President if you are under 35 and weren't born in the US

Point taken, I just spoke off-the-cuff. "Not if he/she want to marry a member of his/her own gender" should have been my answer. My bad.

I don't have the same rights as everyother american thats the point. You should be able to at least see that.If that was true then it wouldn't matter who I was with. One question........How would you like it if you were in the hospital maybe about to die and the person you had commeted yourself to could not be there becouse the were not "family". This happen just a month ago to a friend of mine, not yrs ago.Last month. So we gays have rights!
