Please help me understand.
I have a few questions for the democrats in these forums. I know they claim they are all about jobs, and stuff.. And I actually bought the "economy sucks" arguement that was shoved down my throught through our liberal education system.... but I just would like to know why the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows differently...

I think its odd how people would complain about Bush's "high" unemployment rates, while during the first four years of the Clinton Administration it was way over 7%. Even with the large drop off of unemployment during Clinton's second term, his average UnEMP rate was equal to that of Bush's. But bush also had 9-11, and the recession that resulted from that affect his adminstration. Also, the lowest Post-1970 employment rate occured with a Republican in office. (Richard Nixon.) Im not bashing liberals or anything here, I'm just trying to get this all straightened out... I just don't understand how we could be blinded to these facts... Perhaps it because or media is liberally biased, and not biased toward the right like some people on here claim.

Please explain to me HOW you plan to keep our unemployment rates down?

Because of media consolidation all media can be tracked back to 5 companies/owners: Time Warner, Disney, Murdoch's News Corporation, Bertelsmann of Germany, and Viacom (formerly CBS)

The above companies are anything but liberal. "Liberal media" is another propaganda tool.

As far as unemployment is concerned: Keep as many jobs from escaping overseas? I'm not sure. Any business majors out there?

Um ... Right Here. (Major: Business/Economics)
You still can't deny the labor statistics...

I hear about the outsourcing of jobs all the time. The thing you have to remember is, customers are not satisfied with talking to someone who is unable to speak English.

Tech support/programming is mainly what is being outsourced in India. Yes they charge nothing for their time, but many companies and businesses that want a program written, will pay for it here in the US. Isn't it smart to talk with someone here in the US that can speak English fluently? and if their is a problem, you can verbally, clearly, find a solution?

I had a debate with a liberal after class and he mentioned that unemployment numbers are horrible under Bush. I had to ask him what he thought the numbers were under Clinton and I almost had him in tears when I told him "7%".

Of course you know what happened next! He changed the subject.

I don't understand how the President is really responsible for unemployment. Wouldn't Greenspan (sp?) be more accountable for that?

But it could be said that because of the false war Bush has waged people are less secure about the future and spending less money. Less money in the economy = less jobs.

The media may be controlled by 5 - 7 major corporations, but the fact of the matter remains that 86% of journalists vote Democratic. That's 9 out of 10. Their individual bias rubs off in their reporting.

Look at the ratings, ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, and CNN are all losing to FOX. What does that tell you. The bias is not imagined it is real. All one has to do is look at the headlines. Nixon was impeached and removed from office for lying, Clinton was impeached but not removed from office. The media broke the Nixon story, Matt Drudge broke the Clinton scandal.

Conservatism, I repeat is not an ideology. It does not breed fanatics....But if you want men who seek, reasonably and prudently, to reconcile the best in wisdom of our ancestors with the change which is essential to a vigorous civil social existence, then you will do well to turn to conservative principles

Correct here. When we were attacked (9/11), remember all the people pulling money out of their retirement accounts, mutual funds, bank accounts, money markets, etc??Remember how no one was buying cars and we were seeing ads on tv for 0%APR??

9/11 is what killed our economy, jobs, everything. Our economy and unemployment rates today are suprising after a terrorist attack like that. America is starting to stand back up on it's own two feet.

What if a democrat was in office during 9/11? What if he increased taxes to pay off programs to help out the economy? We would not be in a recession my friend...definately a depression.

We have seen everything I have explained in detail above (except the democrat in office during 9/11).

It's just common sense.

Simple answer= they are censored just like our news is. The owners of our media = supporters of the ring wing agenda.

Compare our news to Canada or any reasonable country and ours equates to propaganda (and not in a liberal/peace sort of way).

Our economy was heading south before 9/11, was it not?

Some indians speak english better than us. I am not saying I am pro outsourcing, actually I think it's horrible. But India was a Brittish colony, and they are remarkably well educated people.
