| PM disowns daughter for being gay PM disowns daughter for being gay PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (AP) -- Cambodian's prime minister said Tuesday he was severing ties with his adopted daughter, who is a lesbian, but appealed to people not to discriminate against gay people. "My adopted daughter now has a wife. I'm quite disappointed," Hun Sen said. He made the rare revelation about his closely guarded family life during a public speech at a student graduation ceremony. Cambodian society, like that of neighboring Thailand, is generally tolerant of homosexuality. In 2004, then-King Norodom Sihanouk announced his support for gay rights, including the right to marry. Hun Sen said he plans to file a civil court case to disown his adopted daughter so that she cannot claim any inheritance from his family. "We are concerned that she might one day cause us trouble ... and try to stake her claim for a share of our assets," he said. The prime minister and his wife, Bun Rany, have three sons and two other daughters. He said they adopted their third daughter in the mid 1980s when she was 18 days old. She has carried his family name, "Hun," just like his biological children. Despite his action toward his daughter, Hun Sen in his speech to the graduating class at the National Institute of Education appealed to parents and society not to discriminate against gay people. | Hun Sen to abandon adopted daughter over her lesbian affairs - People's Daily Online "We are concerned that one day her girls take bombs and poisonous materials to our house and we all will die. Who knows in advance? I have five children and one adopted daughter," he said. WTF is he talking about? This is my new signature. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| Well, what a man does with his own family is pretty much his own business. But, I don't mind saying, what this guy did is all kinds of fucked up. If at first you don’t succeed – try, try again and then quit. There’s no sense in making a damned fool of yourself. – W.C. Fields | |||||||||||||||||||||

| So lemme get this straight, this guy is telling a graduating class @ the National Institute of Education to renounce bigotry against gay people, while simultaneously trying to completely disown his daughter because she's a lesbian. Yea, smart. Hypocrisy thy name is Hun Sen. Quote:

Well, sir, maybe that's because you can't "educate the gay away" any more than you can "pray the gay away." There is a growing list of prominent ultra-conservative political leaders who have gay and lesbian children, and we can add this guy to it. Off the top of my head: Mary Cheney, of course, daughter of the big Dick. Maya Marcel-Keyes, daughter of Alan Chrissy Gephardt, daughter of Dick I think that's pretty remarkable, and ironic. | ||||||||||||||||||||||

| You aren't gonna be able to "get rid of" something that is inherent in a person. All sexually deviant urges seem to follow that rule. This child was adopted by the way, which is probably why he's more inclined to just "get rid of her". If she grew up in that household, she probably was aware of the consequences of her expressing her sexuality. And with 535 members of our legislative branch of the federal government, a few of them having homosexual children isn't that surprising. This is my new signature. But my statement was more specific. What IS surprising is the number of very prominent, very ultra-conservative politicians at the national level who have politically active gay children, who are working in opposition to their parents. | ||||||||||||||||||||||

| Considering nearly every prominent republican legislator, and governor is against "gay marriage", I still don't see the significance. If gay people make up 5% of the population, of every 100 people 5 will be gay. You have 3 people there. One vice-pres, one diplomat, and one legislator. Not that significant considering the mix.
