| political not religious forum This is a legal issue, not a religious issue. Have you heard of the separation of church and state? Despite your personal opinions, people have the right to marry who they want to. What the important thing about marriage is that it is between two people who love each other. I am so sick of ignorant people. No one has the right to tell people who they should love, and gay marriage will be legal. It is the same as saying a mixed race couple can't marry to each other. You don't choose who you fall in love with. America is supposed to be the land of the free and everyone has the right to be happy. It is no one's business who people want to get married to because it is not anyone's life but theirs. Try to walk a mile in someone else's shoes. Would you like to have your natural born rights stripped from you because of some stupid ignorant people? I think not. | |||||||||||||||||||||

The majority of Americans profess to be Christians and don't abandont their Christian principles when they enter the ballot booth or the Legislative chamber. In the case of homosexual marriage every major religion opposes it, and always has

Major religion can opposes all it wants. As I have said more times than I can count I respect that people agree to disagree. They just need to keep it out of our Gov.With so many diverce opinions in the US if religion ruled the gov. there would be a lot of people that would have no say in Gov.That is not what out founding fathers wanted. What I am saying and I thing Gigg is saying is oppose all you want to.Just keep it out of our Gov.

| Separation of church and state doesn't mean separation of common sense. Until the last decade or so homosexuality was deemed wrong pretty much worldwide by nearly every religion on the planet. It ain't just Christianity. In fact I don't know what type of Christian you could claim considering the religious text that guides you pretty much deems homosexual acts one of the worse sins possible. Religion happens to deems homosexuality wrong. Along with murder, bestiality, stealing, etc. Religion didn't "make" homosexuality wrong. It would be wrong even if there were no religion. It's just an easy argument to blame it on religion because to try to make sense out of it on its own merits would be impossible. | |||||||||||||||||||||

As I stated on another thread, there are many Christian churches that support, sanction and perform same sex marriages - and the Reformed Jews (the largest sect of Jews in America) and the Conservative Jews both accept, sanction and perform same sex marriages (the only anti-gay Jews are Orthodox - the smallest sect of Jews in America). Buddhists do not have an issue with homosexuality. To the best of my knowledge, Christianity, Judaism, and Buddhism are all "major religions." Careful, LOL, you're starting to sound like that creepy garysher thing! *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* "know this is EXACTLY why people think you shouldnt have equal rights" 2/11/08 Grace

| And that only came about in the recent past. Just because a sect decides to go out on their own and oppose their own "book of knowledge" doesn't mean that "Christianity" accepts homosexuality. You really have to question the religious convictions of those certain sects that decide to do that. That's like saying "humans" accept having sex in public restrooms just because a few of them decide to do so. Most "humans" don't participate in those activities. | |||||||||||||||||||||

The fact is that no mainstream Christian church condones homosexual marriage. You like to quote your obscure church, which seems to condone almost everything - except adherence to the Bible. Buddhists tolerate homosexuals, as do Christians, but don't condone homosexual marriage. Nor do Hindus. Nor do Muslims.

I should have recognized the stupid rhetoric LOL It's not as if I haven't read his boring b.s. a bazillion times in the past. anyway - since Jews, Christians, and Buddhists can pretty much be described as "major" religions, there is no question that many many many "major" religions support, sanction and perform same sex unions. Not, as it has been said, that should have anything to do with secular law. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* "know this is EXACTLY why people think you shouldnt have equal rights" 2/11/08 Grace
