Level up: 15%, 98 Points needed | | we are all the same Gay and lesbian people are human in all the ways heterosexual people are. We love, we laugh, we cry, we die. Why are our human rights different? We contribute to society in many ways as heterosexuals do but we are not recognised for it. Why? It's about time that society accepts the diversity of its being and protects us all equally in law. |

All sexual "orientations" are the same. That's why offenders have a registry, because the blend right in with everyone else. If all pedo's looked like pedo's they wouldn't be able to pedo. Saying "we are all the same" is simplistic because we are not.
I'm the same as a basketball player physically but I don't have that talent.
I'm the same as a mass rapist too. Cept I don't rape.
I'm the same as a zoophile, cept my cats virginity is safe around me.
The problem with "sexual orientation" as a identity is that you are making something you "do" a part of your identity.
That's like a nympho that considers that part of her identity being upset when people call her a slut. DUH!!!

it's time that all gay people are given the same rights and legal protections that straight people receive, and society should not be defining people by their choice of mates.

This country was BORN in a 'trial by fire.' There had to be a fight to create it.
The same holds true for any group seeking their rights here.
If you look at our history, any group (Women's sufferge, Black Civil rights Movement, Gay Rights movement in the 70's) that stepped up followed the same basic pattern:
The group accepted the status quo..
The group recognized that they should no longer accept the status quo...
The majority group laughed off their voiced concerns...
The group actively pursued their rights...
The majority group became increasingly hostile and a backlash ensued
The group continued to pursue...
The majority group slowly started to accept equality...
The group gained rights...
In this country, nothing is given free. It has to be earned.
This is what is going on right now.
It would be nice if we could just all accept each other and respect each other's ways without any conflict, but that does not seem to be the way that humans operate.
The rights are gaining... The key is to keep moving forward, even when there are temporary losses.

Or are you saying people should be defined by YOUR choice of mates?

the government isn't raising your children - merely telling your children that, no matter how bigoted their parents might be, it's wrong

Yea, there not raising our children, there just telling us how too, against our will.
There is nothing bigoted about raising our children on the same morals that this country was founded on. Basicaly what im saying is, if you want to be a sick pervert great, more power to you, but just keep your sick twisted life style away from our children. It isnt normal, nor is it moral. It is unwanted by the majority of parents, and our rights should not be infringed apon. YOU DONT HAVE THE RIGHT TO RAISE OUR CHILDREN. |

Ugly people are not the same as good looking people and are usually treated by society accordingly.
Women are not the same as men, and good looking women often get more polite treatment (usually from men).
The biggest discriminator of all: Poor people are not the same as people with money. If you have money, most people want to be your friend. If you are poor, most people wish you would just go away. |

Or do you think attitudes change over time as we gain knowledge, wisdom, education, compassion and experience?
