For the Bible Tells Me So

Coming soon to a movie theater near you.

Here's hoping those of you who use the Bible as the basis for your position on homosexuality, either pro and con, will see this film with an open mind.

Periodically re-examining your positions and motivations for them is always a worthwhile exercise. I agree with Socrates in believing that an unexamined life is not worth living.

For The Bible Tells Me So

Can the love between two people ever be an abomination? Is the chasm separating gays and lesbians and Christianity too wide to cross? Is the Bible an excuse to hate?

Winner of the Audience Award for Best Documentary at the Seattle International Film Festival, Dan Karslake's provocative, entertaining documentary brilliantly reconciles homosexuality and Biblical scripture, and in the process reveals that Church-sanctioned anti-gay bias is based almost solely upon a significant (and often malicious) misinterpretation of the Bible. As the film notes, most Christians live their lives today without feeling obliged to kill anyone who works on the Sabbath or eats shrimp (as a literal reading of scripture dictates).

Through the experiences of five very normal, very Christian, very American families -- including those of former House Majority Leader Richard Gephardt and Episcopalian Bishop Gene Robinson -- we discover how insightful people of faith handle the realization of having a gay child. Informed by such respected voices as Bishop Desmond Tutu, Harvard's Peter Gomes, Orthodox Rabbi Steve Greenberg and Reverend Jimmy Creech, FOR THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO offers healing, clarity and understanding to anyone caught in the crosshairs of scripture and sexual identity.

It's opening here on Friday - we definitely plan to see it. It's been getting excellent reviews.

My favorite line in the trailer: It's okay to have a fifth grade view of God and the Bible...as long as you're in the fifth grade.

Maybe it ought to be called "For the Bible, Koran, most modern human cultures, and my physiology Tells Me So". Just so it can be accurate.

But to disprove all of those at once without looking like an idiot would be too difficult.

My physiology most definatly does not tell me so, in fact it does quite the oposite i look at Orlando bloom and what my physiolgy tells me is remarkably apparent.

And you must remember dear what most modern cultures are based on "is" Bible and Khoran religion has had that kind of effect.

Actually I think that most religion is pretty common sense. And homosexuality along with any other sexual predilection other than heterosexuality is pretty much against common sense. It doesn't take a brain trust to see the purpose of the human body and deem girl and boys were meant to love each other sexually and not girls and girls.

Well FX, if it's so much common sense to you, why do you insist on saying you're not religious? Afterall, would seem that with your feelings about Christianity being so 'sensible', that rather then deny your one yourself, you'd want to embrace your Christian-like ideology.

Talk about people being in the closet...Seems when it comes to religion in deeper in the closet then others dear.

To be perfectly honest, the fact that Homosexual's exist and they feel that they cannot change the way they are. Then that is there "natural" inclination and no ammount of hatred or discomfert from others is going to give a miraculous 180 to this supposedly natural state.

Syrokal-

Actually Sy...we're going to have to disagree on one part of your comment here...The 360 degree comment...

Going 360 only puts you right back where you started, impying no change...I think you ment 180, implying change, in this case.
