This time with references to Tuesday's Today Show and Mike Huckabee & Meredith Vieira.

AFA ActionAlert

I saw that ad, looked like a bookshelf to me.

Even if it wasn't a bookshelf, it still looked much more like a plus sign than a cross.

Quote:
The governor is accused of putting a cross in the background of his ad. The 'cross' they find offensive is nothing more than a bookcase. The critics say also that three lights stand for the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit! What is disappointing is that the media grabs such a concoction and makes big news out of this ad.
I'd really like to know who was upset by the ad lol.

Pretty ridiculous. The Christmas tree in the background is a pagan symbol, and no one's complaining about that.

Here's an AFA alert you'll never see:

AFA ActionAlert
Christmas infiltrated by Paganism!!!

Our celebrations of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, infected with pagan rituals. Christmas trees are not Christian!

Take a look around you, in your stores, in your churches, and even your homes. Friends, our most holy day has been infiltrated by anti-Christian symbols and pagan rituals! The latest assault on our values has gone completely unnoticed!

Trees, yule logs, yule hams, Santa Claus, these are not Christian traditions in any sense. These are symbols of Germanic Paganism!
Santa Claus isn't just some jolly old man representing part of the unwanted secular aspect of Christmas, he's also a repackaging of the Norse god Odin. We have been duped over the generations to believe that these are traditional Christmas practices. We've allowed these un-Godly practices to seep into our homes, businesses, and churches!

Fellow Christians we urge you to throw out your pagan trees, your yule logs, hams, and we compel you not to teach your children about Santa Claus!
We need to take the tree out and put Christ in it's place! We also urge to call and write to your local and state government representatives and to our federal government, expressing your concerns and offense at these pagan symbols being prominently displayed all over your respective towns and cities. Also, send a love-gift so we continue the fight over here at the AFA.

The pagans have pushed themselves unto our holiday, it's time we push back. We will win the war on Christmas friends, we just need your help (and your love-gift) to beat back the secularists and the pagans the best we can.

Actualy Paganism was infiltrated by Christmas. It was pagans turned Christian who started it. They just took there old evil holiday, and turned it around to honor Christ. God said he has no problem honoring a day that man chooses to honor. Its a good thing.

The ad in question was running only in Iowa, NH and South Carolina, however, thanks to this controversy, it is now getting national attention. Was the picture intentional cropped to show an image of the cross (the bookcase), probably. Directors of these ads are not stupid, they know how to use the shot to best capture what they want to put accross.

Not bad at all, a simple ad wishing the voters of three states has now gotten Mike Huckabee national attention.
