Maryland House votes to oust Diebold machines

WAY TO GO MARYLAND!

MARCH 10, 2006 (COMPUTERWORLD) - The state of Maryland stands poised to put its entire $90 million investment in Diebold Election Systems Inc. touch-screen e-voting systems on ice because they can’t produce paper receipts.

The state House of Delegates this week voted 137-0 to approve a bill prohibiting election officials from using AccuVote-TSx touch-screen systems in 2006 primary and general elections.

1 down 36 to go!
Diebold makes voting machines that are used in 37 states, but they provide no verifiable record and lack even basic protection against fraud.

I know a Maryland state delegate personally as she was my office neighbor.

Go Maryland!

I used to present ideas to her like Instant Runoff Voting and such. And we would usually discuss current political happenings. Great insight into the personal side of politics.
--- help me Instant Runoff Voting, you're my only hope ---

There is little doubt that the world in general is more liberal than it was 50 years ago and beyond. Conservatives are simply roadblocks on the path to an ever more progressive and liberal world. What a sad existence.
