For Grace
Dear Grace,

You have mentioned in a couple posts at another thread that various folks were a "figment of the imagination" of Jesus.

I would imagine others here might wonder, as do I, what you mean by that.

I have not ever heard that before and wonder why you say it, what Scripture or teaching you embrace that substantiates that conclusion.

Thank you in advance for anything you share.

I saw that too and was wondering. But who am I, a person who owns no Bible, to ask.

Sorry OD, I didnt see this thread till now.

Marvel not that I say unto you all we see is a figment Of Gods imagination.
Just kidding.

I didnt mean anything by it that you dont already know. That God is the creator and sustainer of all things. That with out his will and creativity, nothing that exists would exist. Including the chair you sit on, and the walls that surround you.

I hear ya there, Grace. My only question is why would you call anything a figment of God's imagination. That has always meant, at least to me, that it is not really existing in the physical and material world, but only is a mere "dream" ...

God truly did create, calling into being first, time and space. These are very real dimensions. Here. And now.

Well that to me is the difference between us and God (One of the differences). A figment of our imagination is much different from a figment of Gods imagination.

Yes you could rationalize man and his creation as coming from the imagination of God for in His own words of revelation He has said, "...yea, I have spoken it, I will bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it." (Isaiah 46:11).

So one could conclude that God first imagined man and with that "purpose" He made what He purposed come about. Many people do not actually realize this is the methodology by which God determines the future. He simply decides to do something and then makes what He has purposed come about, just who is to stop Him? Just as He purposed how All the nations of the world would be blessed by the seed of Abraham, He has the power to simply manipulate this physical world to bring about His will of purpose, and often does so in the natural methodology of the very laws of nature which He designed. Much like the story of the old faithful man of God that was caught in a great flood.

As the story goes, there was an old man that was in his declining years, he had outlived his spouse, all the children had grown to have families of their own, thus he was left alone. He used this time to study in God's word, daily he studied and grew in faith because of the many hours he devoted to God's word.

We find him one spring day sitting on his front porch reading from the scriptures and a great rain storm comes, the waters from the near by stream start to raise. A flood warning is issued for his neighborhood. A good neighbor stops by in the family car as he taking his family to higher ground and asks the old man if he needs a ride to avoid the flood that is surely coming. No, the old man replies ," I have prayed to God, he will not let harm come to me, his faithful servant, but thanks, God will provide my delivery." The waters start to rise, the old man is forced to the second level of his house, and a rescue worker, out looking for stranded people in a boat notices the old man sitting by the window reading the Bible by candlelight. He yells into the man, I will get as close as I can, climb aboard, I will take you to safety. Again the old man replies, "No thanks, I have prayed to God, he will let no harm come to me, his faithful servant." The old man sends the man in the boat on his way. The next day the waters have become even higher, forcing the old man unto his roof. A rescue worker in a helicopter notices the old man sitting in a lawn chair upon his roof, still reading from the Bible. He lowers a rope ladder, and yells for the old man to climb up to safety. Again the same response comes from the old mans lips, "No, thanks, God will save me." The helicopter being low on fuel must leave. Finally the waters engulf the house and the old man drowns. At arriving before the judgment throne of God, he asks, "God, why did you let harm come to me, your faithful servant." And God replied, "Hey man, it was "YOU" that was being difficult, I sent a car, a boat, and a helicopter after you."

The same principal applies to many today, they simply do not see the hand of God as it moves across the path of their lives. Many people are looking for miracles, never realizing that their very life, indeed is a miracle of God. Ralph

Most of my spare time is spent in breaching the "legal firewalls" erected by the Veteran's Administration, as I go about helping the returning veterans gain the treatment and benefits they were promised. I devote my time in pointing them in the right direction, as I offer my spare time to the DAV as a counselor, in making sure all the "I's" are dotted and the "T's" are crossed. Ralph
