| Favorite Historical Era Just wondering for all the historians out there what your favorite areas of study are. I am a history major at UMASS Lowell and I focus on labor history, and medieval history. I find that medieval labor history is a very much ignored area of study and has many parallels to the labor of today. Well, there's a really easy way: stop participating in it." -Noam Chomsky | |||||||||||||||||||||

| That's cool. I also will be majoring in History. I'll most likely be attending Ohio State or Denison University. Both have really good history programs. But to answer your question, I'm mostly interested in early modern European history, and perhaps East Asian history of the same periods. But even though early modern history is what interests me, I think the field that I spend most of my time studying on is WWII, and perhaps early American history. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| I'm currently taking a class called "The Modern World" at Umass Lowell and our professor is doing a great job teaching the history of many different nations, all the way up to the modern times. I didn't really enjoy the history of the 15th and 16th centuries of Asia and Europe, but now that we are studing more of what happened in the 18th and 19th centuries, it is definitely more interested to me. | |

| I really like from around 1919-1991, especially in the USSR and its relationship to the United States. I find the Red Scare, McCarthyism, etc. fascinating. Japanese history from just before the Sino-Japanese War until after World War II also interests me. | |||||||||||||||||||||
