Boy, I wonder how much Forester would agree to James Dobson's statement? I thought Reagan united the GOP party in 1980?

Whether or not Reagan united the GOP, and not Jimmy Carter, is something open to interpretation. What is clear is that the Christian conservative-Wallstreet alliance is breaking down, and choosing a divisive candidate such as McCain certainly doesn't help.

I hope Dobson persuades as many of his cronies as possible to badmouth McCain. Hopefully, their cool-aid drinking followers will be staying home in droves come election day.
Right now America spends $700 billion every year on foreign oil. That's our money going overseas when it could be staying here. We have to stop this. That's why I support the Pickens Plan. I am marking this day on my calendar.

The first time Dobson and I have agreed on ANYTHING. For different reasons, of course, but still, it's significant.

From the article:

In his statement, Dobson said McCain had not reached out to "pro-family leaders" or changed his views on positions that "trouble" social conservatives, pointing to the candidate's support for embryonic stem cell research and stance to allow states to set their own definitions of marriage.

These are a few of the reasons why I would not be as unhappy with President McCain as I have been with Resident Bush.

I thought you might agree with him, Forester.
