That sucks dude. I've had my car broken into once and although they really didn't get anything valuable, they did get a couple of rare CD's that I have yet to replace. The biggest loss is the invasion of privacy though. A$$holes have no respect for the amount of work and time it takes to buy stuff.

Sorry to hear that Jon. Will you be able to claim it all on your insurance?

Even so it's a violation. I hope they find the culprits and lock them away for a few years.

Here's an e-mail I wrote Simon Mall on Friday...still haven't heard from them:

To whom this may concern,

I was in your establishment April 18, 2008 at around 7pm-9pm. I parked my pickup truck on the top-level garage and returned to my vehicle being vandalized after I was finished shopping. I unfortunately had a TomTom, DVD Player, College Books, and other items stolen from my vehicle (over $1,000 in damages). What upsets me is the fact that last summer I returned to my vehicle in the same parking garage and someone had hit my quarter panel (hit and run). I currently have a $1,000 deductible on my insurance, which totals both instances at $2,000 out of my pocket within the past year, visiting/shopping at South Shore Plaza!!

The one thing that absolutely irritated me this evening was the feedback I received from the mall security. I asked how often cars are broken into at the South Shore Plaza, and the security guard chuckled saying they see this on a day-to-day basis. I felt that was very impolite and clearly shows they are not doing their job.

I called just before 10pm and asked to speak with the Mall Security. Before transferring, they asked what the problem was and I asked if the security cameras were working on premise. They said they cannot release that information and to call the local police (after mentioning what had happened). I didn't get a sorry or anything, just a colleague of yours who could care less and quickly hung up the phone.

Overall, I wanted you to be aware of my recent shopping experiences at the South Shore Plaza Mall. I visit your establishment on a regular basis, however I am afraid to come back as I don't feel safe leaving my vehicle unattended..I sincerely hope that you will share my story with your staff and that you will respond with feedback. I am hoping that the mall's security will work harder to prevent vandalism, especially if they are aware that this is happening on a day-to-day basis.

Thank you,
Jonathan Kingsbury
