| I get so dam tired of hearing about how the government failed New Orleans. And McCain is mentally deficient, I think it comes from drinking to much Kennedy,cool-aid The goverment isn't to blame for the problems in New Orleans. The Governor and the mayor told FEMA not to send in any aid after the hurricane hit because there wan’t that much destruction. It was only after the levee’s broke that all hell broke loose. By Federal Law, FEMA cannot intervene unless asked to by the State government. Until the National government can get to the problem scene, it’s up to the Local, County, then State government to take care of their people. That idiot mayor and governor should be fired for not taking this storm seriously. Bullwinkle Last edited by bullwinkle; 04-24-2008 at 06:13 PM. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| Here is one reason why I would not be as miserable if McCain won as I have been for the last 7 years. There really is no horrible choice this time around, which is refreshing. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| Well anyone left or right can recognize that the government failed the people of New Orleans. They had a job and they didn't do it. The current administration just won't admit it because they're culpable. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| I don't think the government failed New Orleans. :: New Orleans was a sh#thole pretty much other than the French Quarter(which was spared incidentally). And the people that stayed in a city shaped like a bowl when you have DAYS of warning that a CAT5 hurricane is coming are idiots. MANY cities were decimated by this hurricane OTHER than New Orleans. This obsession over this one place just pisses me off. There was a 90 mile swath of coastline and homes that were wiped out by the storm surge that went up to 5 miles inland. I was watching Weather Channel coverage where Jeff Cantore was miles inland and the bottom fllor of the building he was in was under water. All this "New Orleans was failed" BS is just that, BS. The government did it's best to help all the people that were effected. This was a disaster of never before seen severity. But as for New Orleans, if you live in a city that is in danger of flooding from a CAT3 storm, when the CAT5 one is coming, you might better get the F out. And if you are too poor to get out in the face of those dangers, maybe you are too poor to live in New Orleans. | |||||||||||||||||||||
