I know most of you watch that American Idol show and a lot of people are rooting for this guy, David Cook. Well today, in the Kansas City area was "David Cook Day" I will admit, I don't watch Idol, but this David Cook thing is all I hear about. Anyway, David Cook is from my hometown of Blue Springs, MO. It was a big thing for our city of 49,000. Schools let out early for the homecoming parade of Mr. Cook. I went to the concert he put on at Blue Springs South High School (where he graduated from). It was alright, I got a free ticket so I checked it out. 50,000 people attended the concert. I think Cook will win the Idol thing, but I probably won't keep up on it.

LOS ANGELES - Backstage meddling has caught up "American Idol" favorite David Archuleta's dad, who's been banned from rehearsals, a person working for the TV talent contest said Friday.
Jeff Archuleta was told this week by producers that he can no longer join 17-year-old son as David as he prepares for the show, the person familiar with the matter told The Associated Press. The person wasn't authorized to comment publicly and spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Have you noticed how washed out David looks sometimes? I bet his life is NOT very fun right now. A front running 16 year old should be having the time of his life, David does not look very happy.

Well okay, so does David Archie. But the thing there is, I too hope he doesn't, win or otherwise, sign anything that gives his dad rights past his legal age in a couple years. I don't like those Little League Over-achieving Dad types and think that is a very real form of neglect. Neglecting the care-freedom that a kid ought to know and neglecting to nurture the heart, while busy training the gift and exploiting it for their own ego...
