| The Assassins' Gate: America in Iraq The Assassins' Gate: America in Iraq. An investigative account of the run-up-to, and the conflict itself in the Iraq War by George Packer. I read it, and it was a pretty good book. For the most part it was a impartial investigative account. Although I dissagree with some of what he says in the book, I found it to be a really informative account of the Iraq War, and the roles of all the different people in the war. For the most part, I think Packer tries to justify a war in Iraq. But at the same time I think he's a critic of the major failures on the part of the government. He really does point out some of the major beuracracies going on, on the part of those in the Pentagon and White House, so that the job isn't getting done as it probably should be in Iraq. But mostly I liked his book for the detailed account of the run-up to the war. A really good book. Anyone read it? Now I see that another has came out, and it also looks very good. Its called Cobra II : The Inside Story of the Invasion and Occupation of Iraq. I'll probably end up reading that one also.
