Level up: 32%, 131 Points needed | | There would be problems, but I think the USA can find a way to deal with it; at this point some countries would be far better off with a communist or socialist system in my opinion - at least for awhile. |

Socialism is what will work in the end. Cut throat capitalism is too destructive. Too many people lose and too few win.
But then again i think the description of capitalism will change to a more socialist model by that time anyways

The hybrid between capitalism and socialism is social democracy and it works!

Here is why there is no 'hope' for me (to the extent that hope = becoming a socialist):
Government ownership of businesses strips people of incentive. All you need to do is take a look at the state of public schools, or mail delivery.
Or,
go into a government office building...
The last time I went to one, I was directed to go down the hall, by a receptionist who seemed annoyed at being interrupted in her nail-polishing.
After two more redirections I was grudgingly helped by a woman wearing bedroom slippers.
People performing this way could never hope to be hired by private employers, or at least kept on for any length of time.
Yet our taxes pay their weekly wages, and they would probably have to pan-fry their supervisors in order to be fired. Quote: |

You are thinking of old school traditional socialism.
Under social democracy you own your own business, just like in America.
You may have heard of a little company from a socialist country called IKEA. The owner recently surpassed Bill Gates (if only temporarily) as the world's richest man. And it was started under a SOCIALIST SYSTEM.
