If the guy wants to be a missionary and hang out with the drunks, addicts, prostitutes, etc, he should be an inner city missionary on the street. Lot's to keep him happy.

Tadpole...

Not sure what you're getting at here. Are you thinking the guy who has this blog is nuts, or that he's right on when he's pointing out what drives him nuts about most Christians?

That's why we need to post comments or opinions with links.....

Actually I just thought it was an interesting story. I am serving with a Master Sergeant who is a Mormon, and he was a missionary for some time. He said he loved it, he also said that the guy has the right mind set, it's the prostitutes, addicts and drunks he SHOULD be with. For one reason, they are the ones who will listen. He pointed out that no successful, upper-middle class white people want missionaries in their house talking to them about god.

Mormons are not considered Christians by the the mainstream Christian denominations. Along with Jehovah's Witnesses, mainstream Christianity considers them cults. That could be a reason why a lot of middle class people don't want them to talk to them about God. I've chatted with Mormons a few times.

I think they are Christians. They worship Christ. They definately are NOT a cult... Actually, every Mormon I have met has been a truly good person. It's a shame more Christians can't be like them.

The reason they don't want them in their house is because they have better things to do, and they already have a clearly defined set of beliefs (right or wrong).

I agree they are good people. My dog is a good dog. My cat is a good cat. However, my dog and cat are not Christians because they don't believe in the Jesus of the bible.

Mormons do not worship the Christ of the bible. Their book of Mormon supercedes the bible in their doctrine. Mainstream Christians do believe Moroms are a cult. That is not my opinion. That is fact.

You're right that people clearly have a defined set of beliefs and a lot of those people are mainstream Christians. Catholics, Lutherans, Baptists, Methodists, Episcolpalians, Assemblies of God, Church of God, Church of Christ, etc. These are all mainstream Christian denominations. Mormons and Jehovah's witnesses are not. When you get back to the states, take a visit to a Chrisitan Book Store. The only books you will find in there on Jehovah's witnesses and Mormons will be books describing them as cults and not true Christian denominations. I am not condemning anyone. I am just explaining Christiainity to you.

I am not disaggreeing with you about the beliefs of main-stream Christians, I was just stating my opinion.

I don't know enough about their beliefs to speak intelligently about them.

Question, for fun mostly... How do you know your dog and cat are not Christians? Have you discussed it with them?

Yes. We are still having discussions. One thing for sure. They show me a lot more unconditional love than anyone ever has including Christians.

Studying religions has always been one of my hobbies. I've been doing it off and on for about 25 years. Mormons are wonderful people.
