Question for all you lefties who cry wolf
A couple of days ago I was watching an episode of Malcolm in the Middle. They put up a stand-up cutout of a black man as a janitor, holding a mop in one hand and a 12 pack of beer in the other hand, oh yeah, and his name was "Slappy". The whole episode consisted of Lois (Malcolms mom) and Malcolm arguing over whether or not this cutout should stay up. Lois cried racism as Malcolm, just to get on her moms nerves refused to believe it was racist (even though later in the episode he admitted he agreed with her). My question is, if it is a white man carrying the mop and the beer would anyone cry racist? How does it make it racist for a black man to hold the beer and mop, but not a white man? It will never cease to amaze me the double standards the left has.
Godbless, Tadpole.

In a society that has slavery in its past there will always be a difference. It isn't a double standard... it is just being racially sensitive or emotionally caring. Of course Lois was right in taking down the cut out.

I saw that episode. It was pretty funny when Hal's friend spills some beer and happens to stand up looking like the cut out.

What about when my people came over here from Ireland and were greeted with signs at businesses saying "Irish need not apply". Are you gonna be "sensitive" about that? I don't think so. There has been slavery of white people in other countries just as there have been blacks. Another case of political correctness to be "sensitive" about. Democrats want to make sure we must never forget to remind everyone about America's treatment of the black man, but to hell with America's treatment of the white man. The agenda is obvious. Votes. Keep making the black man the victim and the democrat-socialist party his savior.

I couldn't agree more.

I don't know if the question's aim included me, but I seriously have no idea why anybody would consider that "racist" in the first place.

Is "Slappy" racist?

I don't know, that was his name. It just bothers me that some people tend to see African Americans as oppressed citizens. Times have changed, they're not being enslaved anymore, they're free to do whatever they want. Quit telling them that they're being oppressed. It's not racist, it's reality. Black people are janitors too.

It wasn't directly aimed towards you, foundit. Just the lefties who cannot get off the race issue.

That was hilarious.

Did you see how the black people took no offense as Louis went psycho? I talked to my friend today (who is black) and he even said that to many white people blow this race issue WAY out of proportion. And he accuses every white person of being racist, lol.

He accuses every white person of being racist but it is blown out of proportion?? Interesting.

In reality people would never let a store get away with a cut out like that. Let's be realistic. And it isn't specific to the black race. If a Jewish person was depicted as a stereotype it would be just as bad. Like an orthodox Jewish banker holding money. Yeah, that would fly.

Does racism exist, YES. The problem is that no law can ever change the hearts and minds of some individuals. The only thing that can is true education. As Booker T Washington has reminded us, there exist a group of people in which their livelihood depends on the perception of people to believe that the ills of today are caused by the deeds of the past.

Until such time as that people are honest with themselves, and look not only at the facts and history, but self-examine themselves, we will never break this cycle. Everytime there arises a dispute between individuals of different races, racism is not always the cause. People can disagree without being racist. That is the wonder of a free society.

dmk
Conservatism, I repeat is not an ideology. It does not breed fanatics....But if you want men who seek, reasonably and prudently, to reconcile the best in wisdom of our ancestors with the change which is essential to a vigorous civil social existence, then you will do well to turn to conservative principles
