The Olympics.

Do the Olympics promote Peace and love amongst like the IOC claims they do or Nationalism?? I was walkin to the kitchen to get some pineapple out of the fridge AND IT HIT ME!!! THE OLYMPICS ARE NOT A PEACE PROMOTING EVENT THEY JUST MAKE US HATE EACH OTHER A LITTLE BIT MORE THRU COMPETITION!!! Look at all rivalries in sports THEY HATE EACH OTHER, all the way down to your high school football team to your cross town rivals!! DOWN WITH BROCKTON HIGH, hehe what do I know about MA high school sports. Look at the Red Sox and the Yankees, the Sixers and the Celtics, the Cubs and the White Sox, the Mets and the Yankees, the Yankees and everyone else, the Celtics and everyone else, and finally the Patriots and everyone else. American sports are the only sports I follow, but there is one italian rivalry in soccer, with Roma (rome) and Lazio (the province that surrounds Rome) if you dont believe look at the riots they have after just about every game. Sports do not promote love and peace they do the opposite. I wrote my heart out. BUT DAMN DO I LOVE SPORTS!!!

I voted Nationalism because I definitely think that people rally around their flag during the Olympics and certainly don't rally around someone elses flag. At the end of the day, I think the games promote peace through athletic competition also though. People that don't respect or like people from another country come to respect them when an athlete from that country performs particularly well or valiantly. I'm in the middle on this but I still think when it comes down to it, the games promote more nationalism than anything else.
