| Interesting. I think its sad that certain people would hold biological goop in a laboratory as more precious than the lives of real people. Its amazing what stem cell research would be able to accomplish. The Paralyzed Walks Again We're not going to let China surpass us in medical and technological achievement are we?? | Now commentator Rush Limbaugh puts in his two cents, castigating Fox's ad as "exploitative", etc.. listen to the audio here: Campaign News and Political Commentary » Blog Archive » Limbaugh Blasts Michael J. Fox McCaskill Ad: He Is An Actor, After All | |||||||||||||||||||||

| Rush is right on this one. I just saw Michael Fox on TV and he never shook like that. He must have stayed off his medication for a few days. It's obvious he is trying to get sympathy. The other candidate is not against stem cell research. He's against embryoes for stem cell research, not adult. Why doesn't Fox tell the truth? You liberals fall for anything and everything. | I'm far from liberal, thanks.. and if you read the post I pointed to, it points out that Talent is opposed FETAL stem research. Fox may have been off his meds, or as some suggest, his meds may actually be causing the tremors, but the fact remains that a) something needs to be done in this area of research, and b) better us (US) than "them" IMO. I don't agree with Rush's assessment that the ad is exploitative.. an appeal of this sort needs to be made and it needs to be heard.. I applaud Fox for his efforts. Quote:

| Why doesn't Michael Fox tell the truth? Talent is not against stem cell research. He's against embryonic stem cell research. The ad is a lie. Fox says Talent is against "expanding" research. That is a lie. Talent is against using embryos. Why didn't Fox say that? Do you see it? It's very obvious to me. Last edited by alias; 10-23-2006 at 08:08 PM. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| When my Grandfather was alive he would tremor non-stop. Some people have parkinsons with quite dramatic tremors, while others only tremor slightly. My Grandfather had it in the middle (much like Fox) A friend of the family also has Parkinson's disease and he tremors quite dramitically. Unfortuneatly, very dramatically. Just imagine Fox times 10. My Grandfather passed away over 5 years ago and the man who was a friend of the family just passed away this year. It's upsetting to see people having to deal with this disease. | |

| It's also upsetting to see how many people have been DUPED into thinking that Stem Cell Research is the ANSWER to Parkinson's Disease! It's very possible, yes. But it's just that: POSSIBLE. It is also unfortunate that most of the media is NOT honest enough to differentiate between EMBRYONIC stem cell research, and other kinds of stem cells. And the general population is STUPID enough to buy into the "all or nothing" thinking. It would also be helpful to study further the known link between Parkinson's and some old agricultural herbicides that used to be widely used. | |||||||||||||||||||||

If you admit it is "possible", then where is the sense in NOT DOING THE RESEARCH to see where stem cells can actually lead us... Let science proceed in trying to find medical treatments to their fullest capability, instead of letting a president hinder the progress because he's got stupidly antiquated and unsupported ideals. I think the bigger problem is religious right zealots who want to quash all stem cell research, when THEY can't comprehend the difference... Quote:
What's your argument against "embryonic" stem cell research then? And what's your policy on it then? Quote:
